In the beginning when I first found out I can read manga online I was obsessed with reading new and new manga series but for me watching is better. Though sometimes if I've read a manga that they adapt later in an anime there are some changes made, sometimes for good or for bad.
Sorry for this super super late reply but I had some very important work to finish and was here only to update my list.
I like mecha and mystery too and wished there were more mystery anime out there other than those I've watched. Other favorite genres are action, adventure, fantasy, shounen and a good comedy is not bad either. What I don't like much is harem and ecchi.
About manga...I've read some and in the process of reading some that are still publishing but I can't find much time for manga.

I have a lot of jap songs. My playlist is full of them as well as metal. As for jap rock...I can recommend Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas, Oldcodex, The Gazette, Man with a Mission, Kishida Kyoudan, DOES, Granrodeo, Abingdon Boys School, Nothing's Carved in Stone. Apart from The Gazette, the others I know mainly from OPs and EDs of anime.
My first metal band that I listened to was Nightwish - She is my Sin and after that found some more songs that I liked and very glad I did realize metal is my music so that I can stop listening to those Lady Gaga, Rihanna and the rest. Believe it or not, I really listened to those until I discovered Nightwish and the other metal bands. And right now I can't believe I listened to them then.
Had something from Avenged Sevenfold on my old pc. Think it was called Nightmare. Which reminds me to download it again. I'll check some Disturbed songs besides the two I have.
Besides metal you listen to any jap songs? Most of mine come from the OPs or EDs of anime I've watched.
My first Eluveitie song was completely accidential as I was listening to something else on youtube. My first song was Omnos but in the beginning I didn't quite like it but started liking it for real after listening to it a couple of times more. Then I looked into the band on youtube and found more songs. My favorite immediately was Slania's Song and later Inis Mona, Thousandfold and the rest.
As for 5FDP the first I listened was House of the Rising Sun. Liked the video and especially the intro. Wrong Side of Heaven always gets me too emotional, especially if I'm watching the video. I also have Lift me Up, if you've listened to it. I had something from Disturbed. Two actually. Haunted and Another Way to Die. As for the others...I've heard only of Sabaton. There I have one song - Swedish Pagans. But will check the rest if I'd like them.
For me the first folk metal band that I came to know was Eluveitie (Switzeland) and is my favorite folk metal band though my first metal band that I ever liked was Nightwish. Also like Korpiklaani, Ensiferum, Kalevala, Santiano, like also Charon. But listen to alsmost everthing else as long as I like it. Five Finger Death Punch is okay too, at least some of their songs I've listened to.
