About SkZ

In my dream, the world had suffered a terrible disaster.
A black haze shut out the sun,
and the darkness was alive with the moans and screams of wounded people.
Suddenly, a small light glowed. A candle flickered into life, symbol of hope for millions.
A single tiny candle, shining in the ugly dark.

I laughed and blew it out.

The reading skills of Tokuchi or assuming Tonegawa without devince are GODLY, are impossible in real world.

I don't know about Tonegawa. He was a fairly old man, he seemed experienced enough and he had Kaiji scared shitless at one point just using words. With his experience in E-Card and Kaiji's just first game, it's possible to read him. Kaiji didn't have to win that game, or he could have played it safe from that point and the manga could have gone on. But this is just me creating a new scenario, worthless talk in the end...

Regarding Shigurui, wouldn't the obvious choice be Fujiki? I liked Irako's character a hell lot more and that's why I knew he would lose and he did. The last fight wasn't all that spectacular, it ended quite quickly, but they had fought once before and that was a really great fight...

But that's the thing here, even if those holes are existent as long as they don't matter to me I can just pretend they don't exist.

Well, that means that you have a higher threshold, your comfort zone is bigger, which is a good thing. I think you can enjoy anime more than I can. I'm detail orientated, so my threshold is lower. I can acccept flows, but the level is smaller and when that level is passed I take all the other stuff into consideration. In Kaiji's case this level of comfort was passed with the E-Card thing and the last bet. I think if the anime had ended after the E-Card even with the whole cheating scheme (those episodes were still somewhat exciting) I would have given it a 9, but for me the last 4 episodes were unbearable, I literally forced myself in to watching them.

An anime about chess, I don't know... I guess an arc or two could be interesting, but it needs something more, a reason to play it. Just a tournament would be pretty boring. Also a game of chess can take from a few minutes to hours, it must be well directed to keep the viewers in. Yeah... chess takes me back, I haven't played in at least 3 years...Anyway I think you can find some anime about shogi, if you're interested in expanding your culture.
I think I'll start Akagi pretty soon, I just have to get back in the mood. Now after Kaiji and Shigurui I'm taking a little break from all that hype and I'm chillin' with some sci-fi slice of life, Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou.

You sure right about my brother, that website is a life sucker...

Well I have no idea what you had in mind, I only ment that you don't need to be a boy to love blood, action and fucked up things :)

Well, from reading your post and seeing what bothered you at Kaiji I came to the conclusion that you will like Akagi better.

I don't know why, but I have the same feeling. I have no problem with mahjong, because I like playing it, and not that solitaire crap, the one with 4 players.

Allow me to ask you something, is the fact that those things bothered me about Kaiji that outrageous? That's what I get from Ame. I don't know maybe I didn't understand something, maybe I'm being too exigent. There are tastes involved, but there also things that even from an objective point of view stand out, like the narrator, or like Kaiji crying all the time (I don't think I've seen anyone cry that much and I've wathced drama and romance), or like that bloody final arc (just kidding here).
If I'm wrong I have no problem in admiting it, I'm not that arrogant to say that the way I see things is the right way...

That's O.K, I'm used to trolling, my brother recently became a 4 chaner :P

WOW. You probably met some very lousy girls, if that's why you think I don't like berserk :P
Gore, blood, all the inside splashed out from a human body...It's beauitiful!!! :D
Just kidding, but I really in to this stuff, I also have a theory why [To see Akira in 2nd grade...not so recommended :P ]
All I can tell you is that there's some fucked up girls, and I one of them :)
Even tough, if I'm fully open with you, I do read some shojo [also yaoi, but that's just for fun :D ] ,but only the good ones whose plot isn't made from the same stupid shit.

Actually, what you pointed there is one of the reasons I prefer Vinland on Berserk.
In my opinion, the characters development in Vinland is way better, and it was done waaaaay faster then Bersrek.
Like I said before, I do like gore and stuff, but if there's no good story in there, then I won't read it.

ignore it just because it's with mahjongg then go for One Outs

I think it's going to be the other way around. I'm going to watch Akagi becuase it's about mahjongg (among other things) and I'm going to pass on One Outs, at least for the time being.

I don't really like sports anime, the few I've watched are about basketball, because I played for a long time, but it's not solely about it being a sports anime... I'm having some trouble placing a genius (probably Toua) on the field. I can understand a genius of the sport, but a player who scans others and the whole situation from a psychological point of view... I don't know... it seems somehow out of place.

just saying that it's a shame to miss such an anime ^^

Yeah, you're right, it would have been a shame to not watch it and so far I'm glad I choose it for this short holiday... If that second season wouldn't have been announced I would have definetely started reading the manga.

Cipy | 02-07-11, 10:26 AM
Osu!

Well, I suppose that the manga will end with that battle after the flashbacks are done. I think that the whole manga will cover the flashbacks and at the end, maybe one volume (at most) will be the actual fight.
So far the manga is pretty good, you just feel like reading and reading. It's also very fast paced, the art is well done, the fight scenes are fluid and you can easily understand what has happened. I will not compare it to Vagabond because even if they have some common points, there are different styles involved, from plot, characters to artstyle and storytelling.
So far it is definetely worth it and in some aspects it's better than the anime. The only thing that I'm a little worried about is the ending, I don't see a plot twist or something unnatural happenig and thus it's pretty clear who will win...

Oh and speaking of which, I've just started Kaiji and I don't know when was the last time I saw 9 episodes of anything in just 2 days, pretty addictive... And yeah it's great, but it has some small glitches here and there, especially the last episode I saw. Some things are not that realistic as the anime intends, but they are not that important as to really inflict some damage to the whole experience. So, the second part is better or is more or less the same? Not that I'm complaining...

REAL | 02-06-11, 6:10 AM
Well...it's just the most overrated manga ever.
You know, when I read it I did had expections, and it's totaly relevant for a manga that rated 1st in MAL...but it was a fall, every thing in that story was averge.
However, Vinland Saga is pretty much similar, but waaay better.

aligatorno | 01-29-11, 11:52 PM
Stiu, dar au fost niste probleme cu MAL si nu imi recunostea contul, zicea ca e sters din baza de date, desi eu il vedeam daca il cautam ,asa ca mi-am facut altul.
