STORY: Oz Vessalius has just turned 15 and during his coming of age ceremony he is cast into a hell known as the Abyss. Time is warped in the Abyss, so during the time when he meets the infamous B-Rabbit, also known as Alice, forms a contract with her, and escapes the Abyss with her help, 10 years has passed. Oz must now figure out why he was cast into the Abyss, and who gave the order to send him there.
The story keeps you wanting to watch until the end, and the bits and pieces of the mystery they reveal each episode add to the vibe of the series.
Art: 10/10 - Nice use of color and the animation flows smoothly.
Sound: 10/10 - The music was simply incredible. A nice blend of techno with classical music.
Characters: 10/10 - The characters were enjoyable and each one seemed to have their own design, as in, no designs seem to be repeated.
Enjoyment: 10/10 - Everything was wonderful, and they need to make a second season ^^
Overall: 10/10 - Really awesome in its own right. Definitely going in my top 5 =)

It was the best decision I've ever made regarding an anime choice.
The quiet little town of Hinamizawa........peaceful, serene, kind neighbors......it just seemed too good to be true.
And it was.
The moment pieces of the mystery were introduced, I became hooked. The way it is delivered is with such force that you can't help but pay attention, only to come to the conclusion that maybe, just maybe, the scenario never really existed in the first place. A creepy conclusion, but that's exactly what you'll think when you try to figure out this anime.
My advice? Go see it for yourselves, and see if you can solve the mysteries of Hinamizawa.
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni the anime is adapted from the visual novel, but the anime also has some answer arcs mixed in with the first season. The second season, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai, includes all the answers to the mysteries presented in the first season. read more

This is definitely not for younger viewers, and if you're impressionable or don't like violence or nudity, then don't watch it. It definitely has a lot of adult worthy content.
The story spans over 60 years of Rin and Mimi's lives, showing the friends they have, and also the multitude of people that want them dead. There are allusions to the"bigger picture" in each of the episodes, which will keep viewers watching until the very end.
10/10 Most definitely. read more

The story kept me wanting to watch it through to the end, even when I came upon an obvious filler episode, I still wanted to watch because I enjoyed it so much. The animation was very good, and the music was some of the best I've heard in a long while.
I cannot wait for season 2 to come out ^^ Hopefully it will be as good as or better than the first.
