I watch it for the story too! The rest are just add ons but the ending theme.. defintely a bonus lol.
But besides that as you might already have known, Chuunibyou is also announced that it will be returning for a second season aswell.

That is the same way I feel about reading books, I get much more involved with them and feel as if i am living with the main character or even pretend to be him/her.
I have never read one but I hope to start on my vacation.
