Oh man. Oh geez. Oh no. So I heard about this little gem a while back, and got around to powering through the 3 episodes into the wee hours of the morning...which is the perfect time to watch this thing, of course. That little period between 2 o'clock and 4 o'clock in the morning, that time when anything's funny? That's Garzey's Wing Time. Also, getting fucking WASTED is encouraged (please drink responsibly). The problem was, when I decided to show this to my friends, they weren't exactly into it. Moral of the story? Get good friends. Anyway, Garzey's Wing...not really much to say about this
...
one. It's one of those shows that seems like it's going off of a wikipedia plot summary of itself: things happen for no discernible reason, the lines sound completely incongruous, and the plot seems to go everywhere, and yet nowhere, at once. There is zero effort to characterize anyone, least of all our main..."hero?" All in all, its about as bad as any anime could be. There is not a single area in which this show doesn't fail, and it is GLORIOUS to watch. Endlessly quotable, the voice acting is really the true star of the show. The actors seem hopelessly lost and confused, just like poor Chris, a slave to the will of Yamato-Takeru-No-Mikoto. The lines are delivered (unintentionally, one presumes) with immaculate comedic timing, which are only helped along by the frenetic and frequently insane editing. The perfect comedy anime, a classic of terrible cinema that belongs on a pedestal with The Room and Birdemic. One final fun fact, to close us off: this was directed by the guy who made Gundam. You have a good night, folks.
