P.S. Due to the club having so many members, we aren't able to send out newsletters to all of our members. If you would like to receive newsletters from the Slice of Life Club, post here.
Our newsletters include notifications on when our competition rounds start, club event information, information on our monthly banner contest (new feature starting in September), news about updates and changes to the club, etc.

P.S.S We are in need of active card makers!
We do a few monthly editions and we really need some more card makers to help out with those. If you are interested in applying, click here.

Oh man, you've completely misunderstood me haha. I have never studied psychology, nor would I consider it a hobby of mine. My profile information and Sakura Trick review are jokes! I am merely somewhat interested in the area and sometimes read articles or books concerning the area.

As for the 2D vs 3D world, there are of course many causes to why people would prefer to live in an alternate universe. The primary reason is probably introversion and fear of social relations, as you probably suspected. Anime usually portrays an idealistic alternative for the real society, and most of them end with a happy note despite any turbulence the characters experience along the way (such as Clannad AS's stupid ending). This is in contrast to the harsh reality in which people are offered no second chances. The fear of social interaction here is especially significant as introverts tend to overthink their actions and they are stressed about how they act in front of other people. The consequences of such interation is normally dimunitive, as has been suggested by studies (people think less about you and your failures than you'd often think).

This is important as anime usually puts a comical twist to failures in such interation, and the viewer can grasp the final consequences of said failures due to the multiple perspectives it provides. In real life, however, people obviously cannot know others' thoughts, and fear of the unknown causes introverts to retreat deeper into their own worlds. Alternate realities's such as anime or games (especially MMOs, as they are provided a persona and are given time to think through their actions and social interaction) provide an escape from social stress.

Of course, there is also the absence of responsibility in alternate worlds. While viewers may share the pain and joy of characters in stories, they never need to carry the burden of responsibility with them. These world's are simpler to deal with, and commonly focus on a single area of life, such as romance, adventure and whatnot. If you are given the choice, why would you not prefer a more interesting alternative to the tedious lives we are leading, in which more time is spent on worldly responsibilities rather than pursuing what we truly want? Are you perchance a masochist? The problem here is of course the intensity and peril of this desire of the impossible.

Last but not least, there is the sexuality factor. People in poorly written stories are often presented in idealistic and simplistic fashions in contrast to real life. In combination with the common self-insertion protagonist, people subconsciously feel they are developing relationships with members of the opposite gender. This leads to a disillusion over the difficulty (often perceived rather than actual) of real life interaction. These stories are often the most popular ones for a reason, after all. Additionally, visual media often conceive characters in the most beautiful/sexy way possible; this is especially true for non-real life media as many of the characters are literally designed based on ideals of perfection, which once again disillusions viewers.

That's as much as I can come up with on top of my head, I apologize if I'm just stating the obvious like I think I am.

Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai, I thought it was excellent! The romance is just like from a fairy tale, the classical romance, great story line, overall i thought it was a fairly decent anime.
