Well you are turning 46 this year tbf. But no, your assessment is correct. They are both very simple series. Solo Leveling is just a assassin RPG fantasy with lots of character masturbation. Kimetsu is just typical shounen with likable group dynamic and good animation. It appeals to the individual at a basic level much like how Dragon Ball Super and Fairy tail persistently appeals to a wide audience despite how unlikable it may seem to many others. Can't expect everything to have urasawa level of story telling or Inio level of psychological impact innit.

Just like how you like to see topless boys smoking cigarettes and using outdated hairstyles, others like to see a army of shadows massacre randos.
