Understandable. While not for the same reasons, it's why I'm here. Heck, it's why I watch anime (which is why I prefer the fantastic to realism in terms of setting--if I want real, I'll turn on the news, not watch Japanese animation thank you very much).
The internet may have it's faults, but finding people with your similar obscure interests is one of the best things about it. I'd never talk to anyone about my anime if not for it. ^.^
