Sorry it took me so long to accept your request! I never saw that you had sent the request until a couple days ago, but it's nice to have another friend on here! :) (and one with some mutual interests, like Sailor Moon, Neon Genesis Evangelion, etc.)

The manga is very good, I actually re-read it not too long ago. Oh really?? It must be!!

Hey thanks for the friend request. You seem to have good taste. Love the fact that Eva 3.0 is in your top 5, since so many people hate on that one the most. Most people can't appreciate it for what it is, just cuz it's different from the original series. People don't realize that despite a different setting, the main plot and storyline is pretty much the same.

Sorry to all the folks who sent friend requests, wasn't aware of them until now!

Hi there.

This seems like a good time to mention that I've been reading some of your fan fics. Many of them aren't my bag for some arbitrary reason or another, but I quite liked Depression: Shinji Ikari (enough to leave a review). So keep up the good work.

To respond to your EGF message (I'd rather communicate here than there, if that isn't a problem):

Yeah, P3P is pretty fun, I've enjoyed it a lot. I think the story is decent, not great. I'm up to the part a week or two after Ryoji told everyone we're all doomed and now they're moping around with no idea what to do next. I haven't played either of the PS2 versions, and honestly I have no desire to; without the ability to directly control your party members it's almost a completely different game, one that's a hell of a lot less strategic and fun. Not to mention, all the repetitive dungeon-crawling that I don't really mind on a handheld system (you can play on the bus, in the bathroom, or while ostensibly directing your attention elsewhere) would almost certainly irritate me in a console game. The removal of the FMV cutscenes and extra chapter from the PSP version is a shame, but it's a small price to pay compared with the advantages. Also, Atlus toning down implications of kidsex in my video games is not something that upsets me terribly.

I deleted the comment I left a few days ago, I just said that I had posted something I wrote onto my profile and wanted some feedback on it if you had time. That's all.

Came across this today. I'm not ordinarily one for fanfics, let alone mushy ones, but this isn't half-bad; I immediately thought you would like it.
(It's pat of a series, so if you like it, there's more.)

I refuse to see any of the new movies in the form of DVD/BR rips, let alone camrips. They are big, explosive entertainment spectacles and deserve to be experienced in a theater. (Regardless of my previous statements about how the plotting would be better suited to a TV series, they certainly wouldn't be able to have all the dazzling visuals they do with a TV budget.)

I got spoiled on 2.0 very, very early on, so I'm just going to lay off all Rebuild discussion or venues that might facilitate Rebuild discussion, period, until I'm caught up. I should probably just try and block it from my mind in general so that I'm not tempted, because it may well be an agonizingly long wait between the films' Japanese and English debuts.

No, it said I couldn't comment on your profile if I wasn't a friend, so the comment was apparently eaten FOREVER. It's a shame (those two or three sentences were a masterwork of mine), but what can you do?

Responding to your blog comment:

Huh. I didn't know that about Miyamura's direction in the film. (Tiffany Grant gave a markedly different performance as well, but I mostly attributed that to her growth as an actor and the presence of a different voice director who said he was trying to make the actors' performances more faithful to the originals.)

See, that's the reason why I want to have some hook into Eva fandom, so I can get little tidbits of relevant information like that. I don't so much care for hearing everyone's crazy theory for how everything supposedly fits together, nor for their po-faced proclamations about whether the series is being appreciated "properly", and I especially don't care for the endless debating about who's right and wrong. I'm of the opinion that the "proper" way to discuss Eva is with good friends in the wee hours of the morning. At any rate, once information about 3.0 starts coming out I'll likely cut myself off from the fandom entirely - I'm talking total media blackout - so that I can see it in theaters the way it was intended. In fact, I could use someone like you, to keep me informed on the essential information while filtering out the spoilers. (Sounding a bit Gendo-esque there, aren't I?)

All in all, I think the Rebuild series, the way it's written, would have functioned much better as a TV series. I read a review of 2.0 that said something to the effect that things like the aquarium scene would have worked great as a plot to build an episode around, but in the middle of a movie just feel kinda out of place. I agree completely. Speaking of reviews of the film, this is probably the best one I've read, and in fact I've taken quite a liking to all of this author's writings about Evangelion (if you search his blog, he has many). I think they're some of the most insightful and level-headed writing about the series out there.

Oh, and don't worry, I've already pre-ordered my 2.22 DVD from Amazon. I expect it to arrive in about a month, and I'll be eagerly arranging a viewing along with my best friend and fellow Evangelionist (and one-time EGF frequenter). As far as Blu-Rei Ray is concerned, my thinking is that once all four movies are out (whenever the hell that will be), there will probably be some sort of commemorative Blu-Ray (or whatever format succeeds it IN THE FUUUUUUTURE) collection featuring the definitive edition of all four films, and I might as well get that since right now spending money on versions of the movies that I'll only be able to play on my PS3 doesn't seem worth it (and I'm not exactly swimming in finance).

Also, thanks for the comment/compliment. I wrote a proper response but it was devoured by the MAL Privacy Leviathan.
