no problem. Who was that best friend may i ask? I asked like 7 people whether or not they read manga, if my memory serves correct.
Cold_coffee Apr 6, 2016 9:55 PM
It's because I thought I was the only one who disliked manga and liked anime. It's nice to see I have others who are like me ^^.

I mean, manga and anime are similar to one another liking one and disliking another is retarded, so I thought I was the only culprit, so... xD

Have you been stalking my MAL? How did you find me?

Just thought I'd pop in on your profile for a quick catch up, Ruple! How have you been?

10+ days… I seriously need to work on my punctuality. Sorry.

Getting there wasn’t really a problem, it was more just lack of money. Well, it means more put aside for Brisnova, I guess. After a year and a half of not being able to attend 'nova, I'll definitely be able to make the November one this year.

Yeah, slowly but surely, my Japanese is improving. We just finished the first unit last week. Already knowing hiragana and katakana was useful and gave me more time to revise everything else.
Doing a course is a great idea, especially because the amount of pair work you do helps you practice properly, but you really need to work on it outside of the class as well if you want to achieve fluency. I’ve got a vocab list that I’m gradually building up, and I’m using one of those ‘my language coach’ games alongside the course.

Oooh, cool. Going on an exchange program would be a wonderful experience, but I wouldn’t feel comfortable being overseas for that long unless I knew the native language and customs really well. Hope it goes well for you.

That’s a shame, but at least the Kaito cosplay came out well. The World Ends With You is one of the many games on my pile of shame that I need to get around to playing. I’m currently putting together a cosplay of Kashuu Kiyomitsu (the red one in my picture) from Touken Ranbu. A classmate from the video editing course does silversmithing, and I’m meeting up with him on Monday to put together the earrings for it. He debuted his jewellery business at Goldnova last month, oddly enough.

Fuwanovel actually no longer hosts torrents, they’ve transformed the site into more of a database. The torrents are still active though, so if you have the .torrent file saved, you can still download the games. I’ve been pretty slack with VNs too, the only thing I’m playing at the moment is Hakuouki, and even then, I’ve put it on hold because the iOS port got an English release (I plan to get it when the price goes down so I can play on a legal copy instead of my emulator one).

I wasn't able to go to Goldnova this year, but I should be able to make it to Brisnova in November. I've been well. I'm doing courses in Japanese and video editing, but aside from that, there's not much going on. How about you? Did you finish that Ace Attorney cosplay in the end?

Just thought I'd drop in to wish you a happy birthday!

Gotta be honest, I thought I'd scared you off by mentioning how DMMd contains BL.

Now it's my turn to apologise for the late reply. I was on the Gold Coast for a week, and my hotel had no wi-fi. I could only get online with the free wi-fi from Pacific Fair, and I usually wouldn't have much time (never mind how frustrating it is to type a long message on an iPhone keyboard).

I've only been playing visual novels for a little over half a year, so I haven't played that many yet.
(This is just off the top of my head, there's probably a couple that I've forgotten.)
Chaos;Head and Steins;Gate
Danganronpa (if you count it as a visual novel)
Dra+Koi
Grisaia no Kaijitsu
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
G-senjo no Maou
Saya no Uta
Swan Song
I've also played some short ones, otome games and doujin VNs.

I played about two hours of Katawa Shoujo, but I didn't end up finishing it. I want to read the rest, but I'm caught up playing other VNs first. I'm probably going to do the Hanako route first when I get back to it, actually. She seems like a very interesting character (and really looks like she could use a hug).

I plan to start Fate/stay Night soon. I've been putting it off since it's very long, but I've heard plenty of praise for it, and I want to play it before I watch the anime remake that's coming out soon.

You're having trouble finding VNs?
A couple of good sites are Fuwanovel and ErogeDownload. They both have their advantages and disadvantages. Fuwa is newer, so the site’s library isn’t as big as ED’s, but it’s more convenient because it’s a quick torrent download, unlike on ED, where you have to slowly download the VN in parts.
I’m sure there are other sites out there, but these two are the best, in my opinion.
I've come across downloads here and there on torrent sites and forums, so some Googling could help you track one down.

I have over one hundred episodes of HunterxHunter to catch up on, so I won't have to deal with waiting a week for a while!

Oh, and happy new year!

I finally finished both seasons of CG. I'm not pleased :< Really really not pleased with the production crew for making me cry so hard at the ending ;-;
Now everytime I reflect upon the past episodes of Code Geass and the first opening of R1 (my favourite opening), I'm struck with a sense of nostalgia and a wave of emotions too complicated to describe. It's like, reminiscing the days where Lelouch was truly happy and unaware of what was going to happen to him in the end :C Don't get me wrong, I think the ending is truly a piece of art and a really, really happy ending for Lelouch who attempted to play the Messiah and finally got to rest in peace and let go of the painful burden he was carrying for everyone, especially Nunnally. And finally got to be understood for the person he truly was. For once. Which made me depressed and glad at the same time ;___; I must say though. I really love Lelouch and his princelike arrogance, oh and not to mention his wits.

One question though, I sensed the change of attitude or rather behaviour of Lelouch towards Nunally in the middle of R2. He initially refused to lie to his sister, but gradually started lying to her and hiding himself behind a mask even though he saw that his lies hurt his sister a lot. I've thought a lot about this, it confuses me I must say, and I'm pretty sure it's not a plot hole. Was it because he saw how Nunnally had changed or that he was already prepared to die? What do you feel about it?

All hail Clamp and their wonderful masterpieces! o/ Which reminds me, watch Mushishi and XxxHolic. And and Shinsekai Yori. They are really like the hidden gems of the anime world. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. Speaking of which, winter season animes are the best :3

Again, good luck with your cosplay. I hope it turns out well!

I just found out that, sadly, April Supanova will coincide with my holiday, so I definitely won't be able to attend that one. On the bright side, I'll have more money saved up for the November one, and now there isn't a huge rush to get the Aoba cosplay in time.

Just in case you aren't aware, DRAMAtical Murder is BL. Just putting it out there so you don't get any surprises. If you still want to play it (and want to avoid the price tag), there is a fan translated version available online.

So have you played any other visual novels? I have about 40 on my laptop (a number of which haven't been played yet).

I watched the Ace Attorney movie with two friends at one of our weekly movie nights we used to have, and let me tell you, it's so much better with company. We had a ball, and there were some rewatch bonuses now that we knew the outcome of the first case.

Yeah, Accelerator is a... less than stable person. I've been meaning to start watching Hunter x Hunter, and I probably will as soon as I finish the anime I'm watching now. I'm probably not going to watch the original, just the 2011 adaptation.

I would make my own cosplays, but I simply cannot make clothes. I briefly took a textiles class at school, and my skills were mediocre at best.

... Wait, how did you know it was Aoba? I didn't mention that...
*pause*
Oh yeah, it's on my profile.

Yeah, I really like Aoba's outfit. Most of the other character designs from the VN are praiseworthy, too.

I still need to play the rest of Ace Attorney... I finished the first case and got halfway through the second, and I just haven't gotten around to finishing it.
Good luck with your cosplay! I'd love to see some photos once it's finished.
Have you seen the Ace Attorney movie? It's just as campy as the game.

I'd been saving up since around August. I was able to get an Accelerator figure (from Toaru Majutsu no Index), a Kamina plush (from TTGL), and the Garden of Sinners box set (it was going for a little cheaper than usual, too).

Whoa, nice!
*coughthat'sahellofalotbetterthanmyfirsttimecosplayingcough*

I didn't cosplay in the end because the eBay seller I was going to buy it from went on holiday (great timing), and there was no chance whatsoever of it arriving in time.
A friend of mine was borrowing my Rin one, and I didn't want to go as Kyubey twice in a row, so I just decided not to cosplay.

I have a few parts of the new one now, and hopefully I'll have the rest by the April 2014 Supanova.

So did you buy anything at Supanova?
