It breaks from the anime during the Kyoto arc *Its much longer and sooooooooo much better than in the anime...* so around volume 5 - 6 I hope you like it :P

Yes it is better than the anime. Its longer, much longer obvoiusly and as a result has a lot more character development and action. Plus the story is just a lot better but then again trying to squish a currently 21 volume ongoing series into 26 episodes is somthing I doubt any studio can do XD
So yeah i'd agree it's much better but thats not to say the anime is bad. But still somthing I will say the manga can get much worse than the anime in terms of fan service XD
