Like to note that 2nd GiG has a really different feel then SAC. Won't feel like it's SAC at first.

Ah.
Are they planning on giving DMC a second series? It was way too short and I'm sure the manga goes further into it (although I wouldn't know).
Also, I wouldn't bother with TM8.0. I tried watching it and it was extremely tedious. Took all of my patience to get as far as I did into it.

Thanks for that. It helped that I watched both series back to back, as then I could do a direct comparison. Next up is the movie :)
As for NGE, it's not that I hate the show. I just hate Shinji is all. I have better things to do with my time than to mollycoddle him for 26 episodes and sundry movies and remakes.

Oh, course it's not really death metal, since I actually LIKE the soundtrack of DMC :P
And yes, DMC is always better to watch with other people. I don't think I ever laughed that much and so consistently for any other anime in the history of anime.

I'm not sure how long Akira's chapters are (Since the hosting website only has the volumes and not the chapters) but expect each chapter to be about 40 pages long.
The last 2 chapters have little dialogue so they should go fast, but the first few chapters will take you 15 - 20 minutes depending on how fast you read.
