Both have a feudal warlord taking over the nation kind of thing. Both have strong and cute female cast members and the male protagonist in both is not useless.

If you liked Utawarerumono add

...then you might like Dog Days add

Both deal with Wars and have kind of Anthro characters of different species.

Big difference is Dog Days is light hearted and Utawarerumono deals with a lot of death and violence.

Both have a strong cast of characters though and a good protaganist.

Both anime are misleading in that everything "looks" normal when they arent. Blood and death is prominent in both series with a mysterious undertone.

Both are very similar involving younger girls. One of whom looks and is voiced by the same VA as Rin from Kodomo no Jikan. Also both are guilty pleasure level =P

Both are ecchi to high levels and handle the idea of an incestious relationship between siblings.

Both of these anime have very dramatic, heartwrenching and wonderful storylines with a fantastic line up of characters. Also both have very good art styles.
