Yeah it's basically 2 different stories and some episodes switch between the two. At first I thought the first episode repeated the same story or something in the middle... it is a bit confusing at first but you get used to it. <3
I don't remember the series enough to know what you mean. :/ I should rewatch it.

Chaos;Head was ok imo, I would still suggest some other anime over it though. :S
Hmmm I have a ton on my ptw that I probably won't ever watch; but I actually like watching a lot of series at once. More interesting imo.
I think it's good. You don't really have to watch the prologue at all, it's really short though and gives you an idea of what ef's about, so I would say watch it.
