My ratings are based on a relative scale: most noteworthy that of which a score of "5" denoting a series as 'average' (as written on the labeling) - consequently my scores are ever changing as well.
Before any criticisms are made over my choice in ratings, I ask that you remember the definition of the word 'average' and then look back at your own overall list mean score. Not every anime can be 7+; otherwise it would be impossible to distinguish among the good, the great, and the amazing/life-changing.
This is also not to say I do not enjoy an anime with a rating of 2/10; I merely just don't believe that the overall series is as good in relative comparison to others that I have seen. In fact, I probably enjoy almost every series that has been rated >=3.
Scale:
Music/BG: 1 point(s)
Art/Animation: 2 point(s)
Plot/Surprise: 3 point(s)
Characters/Development: 3 point(s)
Overall Enjoyment/Impact: 1 point(s)
I understand that other viewers probably rate their anime on an absolute scale that maps 7 to great and as a result has no influence on 'average' - which is fine. There are also some issues with scaling, but let's not get too technical on a cataloging anime site for weebs.
For myself though, I only give the score of 10 to a series that has significantly impacted my life in some way, or changed my perspective/thought. These shows are probably the broad-scope anime that I recommend people watch.
Last but not least, there is also an obvious bias towards Gundam, but do note that there are multiple series in those franchises that have received 2s and 3s as well. At the end of the day though, I pretty much worship Sunrise/Bandai.
