Both series are by the same author, Tsuda Mikiyo. The Day of Revolution is the original story behind one of the Princesses, Mikoto, and helps give more insight into Mikoto's past and his girlfriend, Megumi(who served as a side cameo character in Princess Princess). Both are wonderful gender bending comedies and it's recommended to read The Day of Revolution if you're going to or have read Princess Princess.
When I first started reading Soul Eater, my first thoughts were "this reminds me of Jing" and it does. The art is unique and eccentric looking as Jing. The characters are also reminiscent of Jing, level headed hero (or heroine in Soul Eater) and the womanizing, sarcastic companion that's doubles as a weapon. If you enjoy the odd adventures of Maka and Soul, I think you'd also enjoy Jing and Kir's travels through a peculiarly similar world. |
