Nyokou's Profile

Hello, you may call me Nyo. I've been an anime fan since 1998 thanks to Sailor Moon and Pokémon. As for manga, I'm not quite sure... somewhere in the mid-2000s probably. I haven't really watched or read as much anime and manga as some other people have but that's okay.

Aside from anime and manga, I've also been a huge fan of all kinds of music pretty much my whole life. As for Asian music specifically, I've been listening to Japanese music since 2004, Mandopop since 2008 and Korean pop since 2010.

I also like to play video games from time to time but I'm not that skilled at them. I co-owned an original Playstation, Playstation 2, Gamecube and Gameboy Color as a kid with my brothers but didn't really get into gaming until 2008 when my dad bought us an Xbox 360. Nowadays I co-own a Playstation 2, Xbox 360, Playstation 3, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS with my boyfriend.

Since I have been a huge fan of Japanese entertainment for a long time, I have also tried learning more about the culture and language over the years. I'm definitely no expert though and I enjoy learning more as the years go on and hope to visit the country one day.

In high school I was part of the Japanese Club which was founded while I was a student there. Both my brother and I attended club meetings along with our friends until we graduated (myself in 2010 and my brother in 2011).

Over the years my family has been fortunate enough to visit the most authentic [and expensive] Japanese restaurants near my hometown. Some good, some bad. I bet nothing I've seen is as authentic as actually going to Japan though.

I also love Japanese fashion and was mesmerized by gyaru fashion and gothic lolita fashion for quite a while in middle school. But nowadays I'm not too interested in that sort of stuff... probably because I don't go out much anymore.

That's pretty much it! Sorry if all of that makes some of you want to puke. I can't help it though... I've just been too in love with Japanese entertainment and culture for a good chunk of my life.
