Like all Makato Shinkai films, this story focuses on relationships. Particularly love. It's a 3 segmented story about finding your sweetheart, living, and ultimately saying good-bye. The story was extremely touching and it quickly became my favorite Shinkai film. The music fits perfectly with the scenarios, and there were times when I really felt for Takaki, Akari, and Kanae. Their stories can really relate to anyone. Especially someone that's had or lost love.
