About Niklai
MY DRILL IS THE DRILL THAT WILL PIERCE THE HEAVENS!!!
WHO DO YOU THINK I AM?!

I've got a rule. Rule, which works for me every time. If, after seeing about 15% of the series, production still do not appeal to me (meaning, I rate it 5 or lower. I don't watch anything that I don't find at least 'mediocrate'), it's being dropped.
Try for yourself.

Wanna leap through time and go back to your childhood?* It's so simple, watch some Slayers from '95 ;)
It also may reveal itself as a reason why do you have redhair fetish.

inb4 CG got 9 or EL 8 but it's clearly shit:
Anime scores in my case clearly states how much entertaining was said production to watch. I don't part it for story, characters, animation etc separately. Mine 8,9 or 10 for that matter don't necessary means it is actually good (as it's explicit in example above), I could just have lots of fun or be in appropiate mood.
Also, obviously, my opinion > your opinion.

PS.

Beware, it's wholly simbolic mind blowing visual trip... It's not for everyone, but judging from your top list (as well as looking at our compatibility) you'll like it. And it has one of the best climax ending scene, on par with the ending of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.

Let me know what you think about it when you'll see it! :)

Nothing personal on my side either, seriously, and I have no intention to start a flame at all. I just couldn't stand being called spammer, especially with all the other better candidates in that thread only. :)

See you around!

Actually, D.Gray-Man is a shounen that ain't afraid to mix seinen elements with usual shounen elements (which it has in great quantity). A good mix improves the story value and makes it suitable for bigger audience without need of fanservice or dumbing down the plot.

In other words, it succefully mixed two genres which made fans of both genres like it.

Of course, there are bad mixes. Take CANAAN who tries to mix comedy, action and drama... and fails. There are people who like the show, but it makes a lot of people facepalm... myself included... the best episode was which I watched was 7 as it had only one of those three elements.

Even for the episode I am on right now, it looks a bit more mature then your usual shounens. It is especialy good to know that they improve as the story goes ratehr then worsens as it goes (like for most shounens).

(Moving discussion here because we are having non-episode related discussions for too long)

Actually, one of the reasons why I do like Phantom is that it actually does feel realistic rather then just throwing stuff at me and expecting me to accept that, without any proper explanation or logic (in other shows, you would see 15 years old teenagers destroy an organisation like Inferno (which can survive far stronger opponents) while in Phantom thats something ridiculous and impossible to accomplish... and don't even let me talk about other details).

In fact, you won't see me discussing ages in any other anime treads simply because I concluded that for 90% of anime's, age is an ignored element (not talking abour designs here as they NEVER take age in consideration).

I've got a rule. Rule, which works for me every time. If, after seeing exactly 15% of the series, production still do not appeal to me (meaning, I rate it 5 or lower), it's being dropped.

Similiar liek me. I drop them if they manage to go bellow 7. Sometimes I even drop 7's.

Sweet! Glad I was able to help at least a little ^-^

That's a little more difficult, then xD Most action series that I watch tend to have at least one element of those (e.g. magic, mecha) and/or don't take place in our modern-day world. The best I can offer you (that you haven't seen yet) is probably Baccano!, which I see you have on your Plan to Watch list. It takes place in the 1930's and there are some characters that don't die upon being shot (for a specific reason that is central to the plot), but it's a series that I highly recommend! ^^ (it's also a bit confusing because it hops from one scene/time period to another, but hopefully, it doesn't put you off too quickly)

Other than that, you can try posting in the Anime Recs forum. I'm sure other people would be glad to post their ideas~

Depends on how you define "realism" ^^;;
