"Good" and "bad" are subjective labels for a sensation beyond experience. O_o Hilarious, yet disturbing. Once you get, like, two or three of those guys on my profile page...
Ah, the show suffered a bit of the "Berserk" problem, as it caught up to the manga (which wasn't that great). Male dicloni are essentially useless outside of breeding, so they were involved in a scheme to repopulate the world with Nyu/Lucy as their Eve. I didn't care that much about that plotline.
Nyu's over the top cuteness reminded me of girls I went to school with, who I knew were bitches but tried so retardedly hard to seem pure for the sake of boys they wanted to be unpure with. It was sickening. I definitely copied them. >_>
I suppose my interest in the show completely revolved around Nyu/Lucy as a character. I wanted to see more. As a creative individual, I tend to fill in the blanks on my own if the concept is interesting enough, thus making a show/novel/movie better in my head than it actually is. ^^; It is probably the same train of thought that kept me believing in Catholicism for as long as I did.
Objectification. The opening sequence says it all: armed men fearful of a naked, faceless woman. It is monotheism's relationship with my sex. ^_~ Nyu/Lucy is like virgin/slut, etc. It could have been more subtle, but I watched this under the influence of the green fairy, which allowed my buttons to be pushed on more of a gut level than a critical one. Dealing with such themes, I found the pornographic approach to lend itself well to the dehumanization of the characters.

I wouldn't watch it again, though. ^^;
