I'm just your average anime/manga fan, in addition to being a gamer, and something of an amateur writer.
I can be a bit picky about what I watch and read. Action. Supernatural. Thriller. These are the things I enjoy the most. I like some kinds of sci-fi, as well, cyberpunk, especially. Mecha is also cool(real robot or super robot, either one's fine by me). Sometimes I might enjoy some mystery, comedy is okay depending on my mood, and there are some adventure and fantasy anime and manga that catch my interest.
However, the harem and ecchi genres are usually instant "no"s for me. They tend to bore me and the gratuitous, excessive fanservice these anime/manga usually have does nothing for me but waste pages/screen time. Drama, like comedy, is okay depending on my mood, but it's a rare occasion when I'll feel like reading or watching it. Some horror elements in a series is fine, but I never do straight up horror. Same thing with romance, but even then I'll only watch/read if the romance stuff is any good. I can't say I've given the slice of life genre a proper chance, but it doesn't really interest me. I'm willing to try some anime and manga from genres I dislike... but I don't expect much from them.
I personally don't like moe very much, because many anime/manga tend or overdo it, and I avoid anime/manga that try to entertain with nothing but that.
I don't think very highly of light novels as a whole. My opinion of the medium has been improving after discovering a few more worthwhile ones, but I still think the majority of them are derivative, amateur level crap. Won't stop me from seeking out good ones, though. Mardock Scramble and Boogiepop are light novels I bought and don't regret reading in the slightest.
I also read Visual Novels. I'm currently reading When the Higurashi Cry. I finished 999 and loved it. I also recommend Kikokugai to anyone who can stomach some of the more disturbing parts. You'll be rewarded with what I think is one of the best translated VNs.
I've been slowly becoming a Kamen Rider fan, as well. I loved Kamen Rider W, Kuuga, Agito, Black, OOO, 555, and Blade, and I'm enjoying Ryuki and Kabuto. I've tried the first few episodes of Black RX, but I'm not really feeling it. I liked the movie Kamen Rider: The First, and I plan to watch The Next sometime in the future. I'm going to try following Kamen Rider Wizard every week, as well.
Since I like Kamen Rider, I figured I might try out some other tokusatsu. I gave Samurai Sentai Shinkenger a shot and loved it, and now I'm trying Mahou Sentai Magiranger. I'm going to watch Juden Sentai Kyoryuger every week, too. I've also started GARO, and it seems pretty good.

Eh, we don't share very much, but our compat was higher when we shared fewer things -- the way MAL calculates compatibility makes that pretty common. If you look at our shared anime ( http://myanimelist.net/shared.php?u1=Moranite&u2=dkrdude3&type=anime&o=2), you'll also see that your mean score for those things that we share is nearly 2 full points higher than mine -- I use a wider range of scores than you, so that has obvious effects.

I watched episodes 18 through 24 this afternoon. It's something I've...kind of been watching since it first aired, but I wasn't very into it, so it was with an extremely slow pace of just one or two episodes whenever I randomly felt like it. Today, I...randomly felt like it, so I finished the series. It's worth checking out, I'd say; I didn't like most of the cast and found the bulk of the show a mix of annoying and boring because of it, but most people don't seem to feel that way.
