Oh no rush :D In fact, I think you will enjoy the show better when you're "in the mood" for it :) Mononoke is not an everyday show that anyone can just pick up and "appreciate" hahaha it takes a bit to get used to the pace and the way the story unfolds (I've had my friends watched it and said it's quite "confusing" at first). I'd say some random days where you feel like you wanna mess up your mind with something "different", then yeah - maybe that's the day xD
And sorry about the other thing... like I said the other day (more like the other month haha), I don't use MAL very often and tend to forget about notifications. And to be honest, I have zero social skills and I don't use social media either, so I when first saw the request, I was a bit surprised - `cause we just conversed a few times ^^. Not that I think it's a bad thing tho :) Overtime... I just ...forgot.... So again, sorry if I offended you.

I remember seeing the friend request somewhere on the email but I was inactive on MAL for a very long time, then completely forgot how to get there to the pending request...

I can't really give you an answer on whether you will be hooked, because I think everyone's expectation is more or less, different. I can say in my case, I was already very intrigued by the animation style and by the time the 1st episode's story is at its peak, I thought it was gonna be an awesome series.
The first episode starts out a bit slow, they feature various characters at once so it might seem a bit confusing, but by the time you start to get an idea of the story (in that episode), I would say it's gonna be quite an experience. I think the first story spans 2 episode, just give it a try and see if you like it.
