Thanks!

It's just so true I had to write it in.

No don't get me wrong, it's an actual suggestion

I just think the scores on this website (in the top anime/manga) are pretty much useless since they're based on that kind of users (which are the majority), there are other reasons but I'd be writing walls of text

Not like it matters all that much anyway. Everyone's here to talk about anime afterall, and to me rating is more like a mental exercise than anything else ^^

Valkyrion | 01-28-13, 5:29 AM
>Why is the MAL rating system so stuffed? The average anime is totally NOT 7, but oh well, I guess I'll have to scale my rating system... 7 = average.

that's because the average MAL user is a 15year old kid who only watches shonens and probably gave SAO a 10 and can't tell left from right.

the average is 5 on this website

Since you apparently have a brain I invite you to not do the same as those users~

(It's totally ok to cry with K-ON don't worry.)

Nice work on the Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! All excellent points that I strongly agree with. I'll be watching the 12th episode immediately.

On a similar note, glad to see you recently finished Clannad and Clannad: After Story. Still my favourite anime in terms of emotion and overall impact and remembrance (Code Geass in terms of plot, until I get around to watching Steins; gate).
Referencing the comments on your list, I actually liked the ending of After Story. When, you get to a certain point in that series and you should realize(like I did), are they really going to end it this sad. There's beatifully touching, and then there's bordering on depressing. It made the series bearable and the series worth it at the end. Besides I actually thought that the summary episode had the most impact. I still love the ending song to episode 23 ("Small Palms"), but looking back on a 50 episode series (including 2 extras, the summaries, and the 2 OVAs(which I highly recommend)), the summary of the series journey with the song ("The Place where Wishes Come True II"), which should only be heard with the final episode. Not to mention the fact that I thought some of the emotional moments in the series were better dubbed than subbed (but that's just my preference. Anyway be sure to see those OVAs and watch the summary if you haven't already. If you watched it sub, here's a link to it dubbed if you want to try. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mA6HHJwzY5w

On another note, I also recommend any other Key related works or Kyoto Animation's works. You already seem well-watched in Kyoto Animation's animation's works, but I recommend that you keep an eye out for their new (and wholly original) series starting January 10th, Tamako Market. If you know any of this information sorry for ranting, but be sure to add it to your list.

As for Key's works (the light novel makers), they have made Air, Kanon, Clannad, Little Busters!, and Rewrite. The first 3 all had Kyoto Animation adaptaions.

Air is a light-hearted anime with a small-cast and has plenty of deep meaning at the end.
Kanon, I still have to watch, but the focus on memories, the addition of some action, and the winter setting, set it apart from the other Key series.
Clannad, you know.

Also Key's Character designer, "Na-Ga", has been involved in a few series with other studios.
Angel Beats was one of those series, which you've seen. I strongly recommend you also watch the OVA (hilarious episode the takes place between 4 and 5) and the another epilogue which adds a bit of addition to the ending and gives the unlikely possibility of a second season.
Little Busters was also a Key Novel that is currently being adapted by J.C.Staff and is at episode 11 of 26 episodes with a second season already being hinted at. My general opinion is that they go a little over the top with the moe elements, but that's probably just the voice actors. There are some funny moments as well as some deep character moments later in the series. I think around episode 4 or 5 is where it starts to show its depth. Plus, I've been told that the last arc, "Refrain" is amazing. So if you want to give it a try feel free.
Finally, Rewrite is their newest novel that probably will get an anime adaption eventually. I hope it has the same potential as Clannad.

One last note I will make is that both Air and Clannad had a movie made by another studio. It has different animation and a slightly altered plot, removed or excluded characters, and a different ending. There are some good scenes here and there, but it doesn't compare to the series. Still give it a try if you want something different from the material and the characters you've seen.

So that's it for all things Key and Kyoto Animation. Feel free to send me a friend request or just chat about new anime. Keep up the great reviews and I hope you enjoy some of the series that I've suggested.

P.S. I also just started Hyouka. Tell me your opinion of it. And in terms of new anime, while it may have an okay plot, or an occasional character archetype, the action scenes, art, music, and production quality are top notch with some really memorable scenes, so when you have time try Sword Art Online. It finishes its first season tomorrow anyway. Hopefully and probably it'll get a second. Have a look and reply when you have time.:)
