I guess because Nodame's airheadedness came off as natural and innocent and not some ploy for people to like her ("THIS GIRL IS CLUMSY AND STUPID YOU SHOULD BUY HER FIGURINES" ect) she's likable to me. I agree that Chiaki has some of that annoying shoujo jerkness going on but it's somewhat plot explained as you pointed out and it's cute to see him starting to melt around Nodame's irresistible charm. Not the greatest anime ever and it has been a while since I saw S1 so perhaps my memories are fonder than the reality but yeah I feel it's worth finishing at least.

I've only seen the first season so I'm not really sure? I like Nodame a lot and her relationship with Chiaki was interesting enough to have me wanting to see it further explored. I can't really have an opinion on the anime I've yet to see though.

Continuing the trend of manly men I see.

Yeah, it's great, I was really surprised but I've been totally won over by it in one hour, which can only make me begin to imagine how the rest of the series plays out.

Sounds like a plan. I'm interested to see what's in this episode now.

Just watched My Conquest is the Sea of Stars.
That was actually spectacular, I don't know why I didn't get into LOTGH sooner.

Yeah you can. Pretty sure you could with the old version as well? But yeah, Keaton is on my PTW but I have a cap to manage unfortunately so I just went with the episode for now.

It's from Lupin VIII, which was to be a TV show that followed an 8th incarnation, and was to be a detective show, and was a collab between TMS and DiC Entertainment, which explains Fujiko's odd design style.
http://www.nyaa.eu/?page=view&tid=394208 Check it out. Also, Family All Stars is funny.

The only thing worse than you, is Homestuck.
It's for lonely virgin fags on the internet.
Btw the theater where I work is playing Princess Mononoke on the big screen for all the employees. I'm fucking awesome.

See now this is pretty slick. I enjoy this.
I like how normal the girl looks. Seriously, that's something I enjoy anymore. Just a normal girl. It's so easy to please me yet it's such a rare occurrence.
(music is also great)
I wonder why Miyazaki never used female directors though now that I think about it. It could very well be that none were available I suppose... not because they weren't there and weren't talented but probably because they couldn't break through.
I'd say in a lot of regards Eastern Animation has a leg up on Western Animation but in a lot of ways it's just as bad or worse in terms of objectification, lack of representation, lack of good characterized female characters, ect. Japan is hella jacked up when it comes to social issues, I blame their aging population mainly. It's frustrating and again all of this is directly tied to the lack of women in the industry. God, just more of that could fix so many things, you see that somewhat with the comic industry in America, more women are writing independent comics, as well as the few that manage to get into the ranks of DC and Marvel, and many of these comics contain POC and/or female characters in positions of power. It really does all start there in the real world. That's why yeah, this is a big deal.
Ah were you just gonna send me a dl link or what?

Yeah that's one thing I will always love and respect about Ghibil (among many of course). Miyazaki really walks the walk with his feminist values, making the heroes of his movies female and even more importantly, employing numerous women to work in a field where they are notoriously underrepresented. It's incredibly refreshing for sure.
I don't think the anime industry is any different from say the fields of technology or science, women merely need to be given the chance to thrive and the whole industry will be better for it. It's especially puzzling given the strides and chances and diversity found in the manga industry. Women are responsible for great works of all genres. The anime industry has no excuse to be as full of shit as it manages to be.
Kyoani actually does have quite a few female members of it's staff as well, again they were just so shackled to their entitled fans for so long, none of these staff members really got a chance to thrive or do their own thing. I mean not to say they didn't enjoy their work, Kyoani is popular enough with the ladies, but needless to say they had a certain demographic and I wouldn't necessarily call it aimed towards girls. People may say otherwise, I'd say they're being ignorant.
That's why no matter what people have to say about it, I believe Free! to be an incredibly important anime. In a culture where terms like "fujoshit" are used and shoujo is considered to be a genre synonymous with crap, and more over where it's free reign for anyone to say any of these things (all the while people who enjoy moe obtain huge victim complexes and cry a lot about how persecuted they are) and essentially belittle and put down female anime fans constantly , the director is a woman who is very open and unashamed about what makes her happy and what she enjoys. She is a fujoshi making anime for fujoshi and seemingly not concerned with feeding the fat, bloated, overserviced section of the culture that literally everyone else ever is constantly feeding. It could very well end up being empty fanservice but you know what? The thought of something exactly like the 20 empty fanservice shows full of jiggling breasts and moe blobs made every season for men just simply made for women is exciting. Equality is exciting.
(That's not to say it can't be more than that though it's just so hilarious to see people use that as some sort of insult towards Free! and get so upset at the thought of girls doing to guys what guys do to girls on a daily basis, what guys have made a sexist gross culture around doing that women have to live in every day of their lives, like yeah wow guys that must be really rough getting objectified and having people oogle over your bodies, wow I bet you have to deal with that walking down the street in real life too oh man wow how horrible hurr durr)
Maybe I'm overstating things and merely projecting what I want to believe is happening (revolution! revolution! revolution!) but again, the fact that it is Kyoani and the fact that it did terrify so many wimps to such hilarious levels is both encouraging to me and exciting as hell. I hope it sells billions, I hope it encourages more women to get into directing, more studios to reach out to female anime viewers, more sniveling little boys to get upset. I don't know if you're really going to watch it or not but damn, I am so ready to swim.

Also you watched this show in a matter of days. You were pretty hesitant for a while because of it's length.
