About MFGreth
Hmmm. Well I was born in 1990. My first anime was probably Speed Racer, when I was around four years old (1994). After that it was probably the Voltron reruns that popped up on the networks, but the first anime I was really hooked to was Dragonball by Akira Toriyama. I watched every single episode Cartoon Network broadcasted before they pulled it (they would air it again later via Toonami following the success of DBZ). I recall seeing all the way up to the end of the General Blue saga and getting disappointed as it taken off and then was quickly replaced with Huckleberry Hound with no explanation. My next occurence with anime was when I caught one of my older cousins watching Fist of the North Star (the movie) at a Christmas family get together. I fucking loved it. I think I was seven. Later I would delve into anime more personally as Toonami began showing Dragonball Z (my mind was like 'whaaa Dragonball!? awesome!) and Gundam Wing (omg this is like Voltron but with lots more of them!). I've been hooked ever since.

I have a particular penchant for well-done shounen animes (like Dragonball, Hokuto no Ken, Hajime no Ippo) and mech shows (I prefer the super variety over the real variety, but they both rule). I'm really down with any genre of anime as long as the show itself entertains me.

And yes, the glasses in my pic are fake. But I can't resist trying to be as cool as Buddy Holly!

Right. I'm a fan of Mr. Neeson myself so I don't blame you, though a number of those who didn't like the show as much panned his performance! (I can't imagine it myself, after following him in a number of his films).

Hey, been busy but nice of you to drop by. I appreciate it.

I loved Ponyo. I was blubbering like a girl within 20 minutes. I've read a number of negative reviews and while I can appreciate where they're coming from (comparisons to more pithy Miyazaki works, accusations of 'dumbing down' for kids, 'plot holes' etc.) I can't agree.

Ponyo gave me a wonderful time with really uplifting moments.

I haven't seen the Disney sub though, so this may be part of why I didn't have much to complain about.

That said, Ponyo is an uncoventional love story, with rather complex characterization expressed in the most concise and simple terms. The conflict between nature and humans are never really the matter of arguments and speeches, but rather shown through gorgeous visual juxtapositions.

Feez | 11-23-08, 8:54 PM
Yeah, that's what I first thought too but me and Zero have like just a handful of shows in common and our scores are off by a margin of 2+, yet our compatibility is really high lol. I dont get it

Feez | 11-23-08, 8:44 PM
lol damn why's it so low. i dont get how it even makes the compatibility shit lol
