I was sick during June-July too, so I can understand what you felt, summer and humid weather are evil! ;__; At least you did a lot of things and met your relatives.

Yeah, we have a lot of interesting courses, we even had courses about ethnic music and similar things before they were removed for lack of funds...
It's weird that Korean is more represented, that usually happens with Chinese (for example here some universities have a general Language dept and Chinese is the only Oriental Language available)... studying beyond high school is a tough task (here, at least).

I'm glad the things I write can be useful :D
And (a belated) welcome back!

Kareran | 07-06-12, 1:02 AM
Well, one is already something, isn't it? And who knows, maybe the others will be glad to reconnect with you (I honestly don't know how these things work because 99% of my childhood friends still live in my neighborhood, so we meet often even if we're not friends anymore)...

I will probably never be confident, but after these two years in university I can see some improvements, mostly in the "comprehension" department. I have to say that here there's a lot of attention on culture, too, so we study a lot of history, literature, philosophies and religions (even philology!) and it's really interesting and useful. I also have to say that there's a lot of disorganization which doesn't make things easy at all (this year I couldn't attend my Japanese Language lessons - at all - cause the timetable was terrible, so in the end I've been doing self-study, mostly).

Korean is really difficult, you're right! Especially terms and yes, pronunciation (it's easier to learn reading in Hangul directly than romanize it, cause there are two different styles of romanization and both are pretty much crap). But the grammar is not that complicated and a lot of words resemble their Japanese counterpart, so that helps. It takes a lot of patience and memory skills, but it's not impossible.

Nursing is surely difficult, but I'm sure it can be rewarding, too!
Hope you'll have fun during these three weeks (and sorry for the endless papyrus, my bad habit of writing forever has resurfaced...)!

V3gas | 07-01-12, 1:26 PM
Sounds great, have fun!

V3gas | 07-01-12, 5:56 AM
Where are you going, by the way?

V3gas | 07-01-12, 4:30 AM
Wow, so sweet of you to remember, thanks! Have a great trip!

Kareran | 06-19-12, 12:35 AM
I miss them too! Sorry for the late reply, but I was hospitalized for a few days so... at least I'm alright, now u__u
Well, think of moving out as an opportunity to make new experiences (I couldn't move for university so I kinda envy you XD) and if you have friends to welcome you back that's even better è___éb

Thanks! In the end I had to postpone the exams to September because my health was a bit of a bitch, but I'm still studying hard (since the stuff they have us study for the exams is almost infinite).
I'm in the Oriental Languages department (first language Japanese and second Korean), it's a lot of work but it's interesting too.
Wow, Nursing! It must be a difficult path to follow but I'm sure it pays back (I mean, not just economically).

(sorry for any typos that might be in there!)

V3gas | 06-11-12, 1:54 AM
Haha, yeah, doesn't feel like three years at all.

Yeah, waiting sucks :(

Yeah, I think it's pretty hard. So I gotta work hard, but if it's fun it's worth it! I was gonna say wish your brother luck from me, but that would be a bit weird.

V3gas | 06-10-12, 1:09 PM
Also, really cool that your brother is majoring in CS!

Kareran | 06-10-12, 5:01 AM
Too long! But it's my fault for not being here that often anymore... but it's always a pleasure to be notified of your messages (I cried a lonely tear of happiness when I saw the mail from MAL)!

Good luck for your finals, I hope all your efforts will be acknowledged *A*
I've been busy too, actually, university takes a lot of my time and exams approaching don't help with that, but I don't complain too much (in fact I complain a lot but it's never enouh). Life is good overall :)

What are you going to do after you graduate? /curious

V3gas | 06-09-12, 8:08 AM
Thanks! And congrats on graduating!

Hm, bummer! I feel like my interest in manga is better now than like a year ago, but when I tried reading some supposedly good manga, I didn't have much luck; they felt cliched and bad (One example: Zetman). So I've been re-reading some old favorites. Right now I'm re-reading One Piece. ~700 chapters takes a while, haha. I hope to discover some good manga soon, though!

Borjarnonymous | 06-07-12, 5:42 PM
Ginji, eh? I haven't read Gin to Kin, so I wouldn't know D:

And sure thing, here ya go http://i.imgur.com/pxygy.png
Man, I'm pretty sure this is Akagi, as I found it tagged as such on tumblr, but it looks a lot like the guy from Mushishi as well. I guess it comes down to the eyes and the dots on his nose, huh.

V3gas | 03-05-12, 7:55 AM
Haha, no worries!

Oh, okay! I thought you graduated a year earlier than us, but I guess you don't, then!
Congrats, that's great to hear! Hm, sounds like you have a lot to do. Thanks- only two months left until exams now! This is our mock exam week. Yeah, we have to do a 4000 word paper, but I kinda stretch the word limits in the lower bounds; mine was only ~3100 words. It turned out okay, though.

Thanks! Nah, I didn't, but I figured it was time to change. I can't even decide on top 5 manga, so I make some changes if I'm bored. Your favourites are great, too- I'll have to check out National Quiz one day.

I'm planning on studying Computer Science at college (not like you asked, but I ramble away anyway), btw. I've completely fallen in love with both that and math, but unfortunately my school doesn't offer a Computer Science course. So pumped for college, and so tired of high school.. I really look forward to almost only having courses I like.

thepapercut | 01-24-12, 12:15 AM
How have you been doing?

shinkeikaku | 09-29-11, 5:33 PM
I only saw mentions of chapters 3 and 5 of Z, not the actual files. I'm buying the perfect edition release that's coming out next month, so I'll read it then. I do prefer things in English though /lazy

But yeah, old school shoujo is the best :D 24-gumi and I have a thing for late 80s to mid 90s shoujo. I'd read more seinen, but it's too much effort reading it raw.

V3gas | 09-27-11, 1:02 PM
Sorry about the delayed reply! (Not like it's anywhere how late your replies used to be! What happened?! haha)
Haha, I see. You go to college now, right? If I remember correctly, you wanted to be a nurse? Or am I way off?

Pretty much the same. Although I think Mathematics is pretty fun, unlike Physics..
I've got a lot of assignments right now, so procrastination has pretty much turned into my main hobby. I'm in the senior year of IB.
And thanks! Luckily I was not directly affected, nor were any of my closest friends. But it definitely had a huge impact on people. Norwegians seem to have become more united, at least right after the incident, and to some extent more caring!

Nice talking to you again! It was a bit more frequent a few years ago, haha. (I'm not blaming you, of course!)
