I just feel that the way the manga ended felt right to me. Then, some years later, the author puts out that one-shot special which shows Ohno and Ogiue trying to get new club members (which thats where the new generation of characters came from) and I was like "Uh, okay, that was quite a special?" and I guess due to reception or sales (or maybe it was the author's plan all along) they started the manga back up and I think all the focus on BL just feels like the author is pandering to the current yaoi trend right now and there's almost no other insight/focus on any other otaku trends or fandoms that could be incorporated.
Plus, i feel like the author should focus more on working on his Spotted Flower work, cuz that story is just as interesting (though despite what some people are saying, I do not think its a Genshiken spin-off! lol)
Sorry for the long rant.

Yeah, the new generation of characters/manga storyline is DEFINITELY banking on the current otaku trend/fad of "boys love" so that's why I don't really follow it as well...and apparently, they have recently green-lit for another Genshiken anime to be made based on this.

I like the whole cast for most part, though if I had to narrow it down, I'd say Sasahara, Ohno and Ogiue are my favs. Still on the fence how I feel about the new generation of characters in new Genshiken manga though lol.

Hi! I'm doing well. Hanging out with friends a lot lately. Making them watch a lot of anime. :p
And no, I haven't seen the Shiki specials, yet. I think I need to get cracking on that. Unfortunately, I've been either working or having my friends catch up on shows that I want them to see that I haven't been able to watch anything new. It's a problem. I've finally figured out who I want to be for Halloween, though! (It's early, I know. But I figured it's probably a good idea to get an early start on it.)

Shiki was kind of surprising. I liked it a lot, but there were a few things I would have liked to see done differently. But over all I thought it was pretty great.
I started watch Madoka Magica. It's actually really fantastic. It starts out pretty generic and then just blows you away. I'm really excited to see the final episodes. Unfortunately, I haven't seen much else this year, though. :(
And no worries! I haven't been on MAL as much lately. It makes me sad.
