I didn't know making observations made me pretentious.
Was I wrong in thinking that?
I didn't mean that not having scores between 1-5 was bad,
if anything that's better because you'd have a more well rounded taste than myself.

Yeah, we do seam to have pretty similar tastes :) Even when it comes to layout. lol
TBH I didn't really like either of the fullmetal panic seasons i've seen to far (season 1 and fumoffu). For me there really isn't enough development, and it just goes to far over the top w/o being particularly witty. It just seems to drag on with the same things over and over. And i mean, the main guy's supposed to be a genius at strategy and military stuff but sometimes the random girls gets ideas he doesn't? yeah sure. and she gets randomly invited onto top secret sub and gets secret information? lolz. My opinions might change when i see the last season, but i wasn't really impressed. but this is all just my opinion. It definitely has a style of humor and keeps true to it and does it well, so if you like that kind of humor (which you do) then I can see where you are coming from giving it a higher score. Also i thought the art wasn't quite as good as other series.
and YES i absolutely LOVE Haruhi, and get so sad when people think it isn't that great, right when i watched the first episode (the movie they made) I was like OMG I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW GENIUSLY FUNNY THIS IS HOLY SHNIKEZE and i kept that feeling all the way through, and delighted at the outrageousness and the plot ideas and weird time thing in general, so glad you like it so much, because it is definitely waaaaay up there for me too.
I haven't finished watching the rest of Miyazaki's films yet because i'm dreading when there will be no more for me to watch lol so i'm saving them for a rainy day, so to speak.
and watch bakemonogatari right now, its also in my top 10, even though i rated it a 9. it is amazing.
ergo proxy is one of the coolest animes i've ever watched, and in my top 5. The pacing and plot and style change halfway through, i really like both halves, but some people don't like the second one, just warning you so you can be prepared for some really weird (but completely amazing and awesome) stuff in the second half.
