After finishing the first season of Oregairu in what felt like a blink of a second, a season packed with funny and cute moment, as well as special and beautiful encounters where romance would start to blossom, I waited patiently on second season where hopefully I would see some real mouth to mouth action, but was let down greatly.
In this second season of Oregairu, the makers pretty much chose to throw away most of the characters you meet in the first season and focus solely on the mains which I have no problem with. Season 1 did its job, its time for second season

to do theirs, which honestly it didnt for me.
Relax, I'm not telling you that it was bad, but just lacking, especially for me who had such high expectations of it, and heres why.
I went into second season preparing myself for some real loveydovey drama/comedy etc because under genres it clearly says romance, right? If you thought like me and was also ready for some Yukinoshita x Haciman action, we were fooled. The romance in this show hardly moves forward and is hardly noticeable apart from the last episode where we see atleast some emotions, but cmon last episode? Really? Seems like I have to wait yet another year or so to see love truly blossom in this show...
Not only is the romance super lacking, but the story too. As we follow Hachiman, Yukinoshita and Yuigahama through their super shaky relationship, filled with locked away and held back emotions, you start to wonder, is this even going anywhere? Cuz season 2 sure didnt amount to much.
This is how season 2 went for me:
Main characters have a problem, problem fixed, no problem is back.
Main characters deals with other peoples problems, problem fixed, no its back.
Main characters fixes first problem, a new problem develops, season 2 ends.
Sure there are more details to it then what I have written above, but thats pretty much how it goes.
There is also an unnecessary amount of work put into this other girl that hachiman helps, who seemingly towards the end grows feeling for Hachiman but is left unexplained and the creators leaves it at that.
I also had the problem where I wouldnt understand a damn of what happened in for example episode 6 and had to rewatch it again before watching episode 7 because I literally couldnt remember what the hell happened, mostly because the problems that unfolds in this show are really hard to notice and takes place further back than you would initially think.
There is so much good in this show, that its a real shame that they use season 2 as mostly a build up for a season 3 ( there is going to be a season 3 right? ). The story is great, the art is great, the sound is great, the characters are amazing, but overall I was left with a hole in my heart. Lets hope a season 3 can fix the hole and bring me peace.

I´ll admit that I fell pretty stupid for putting this anime on hold for such a long time. As it started of with a meh and ended with a YEAH, this anime was surprisingly fun to watch.
As I started watching this anime, I had a feeling that the main character Harutora was going to be one of those boring mains to watch in the long run, but as I kept following the story, it became more and more interesting to follow this boring main and his friends. Taking on enemy after enemy, trying to become powerful shamans (exorcists) was only a fraction of what the
...
story was really focusing on.
Still there are parts in the story that is halfheartedly explained, leaving you with a big question mark as to what is really going on and why. They also seemed to overcomplicate the story, making it harder to get in "The Zone" when it comes to characters and scenery. Still the story has plenty of upsides to it. As it is an well though story with good plot twists and a great rhythm and backstory to it, this story leaves me in nothing but awe.
The art itself were also pretty good, fitting well in with the story and providing well expressed characters when it was needed. Some part were also a bit sloppy when it came to the art, but when it came to the fighting, the art were perfectly done in a way that fits perfectly with what I am looking for in a action anime. I was easily taken by the fighting scenery and style.
As far as the sound goes, I have hardly much to say. The openings and the endings of the anime provides as beginnings and endings of the anime itself, making it easy for one to get right into the anime and the fighting without as great of a shock as what Ive seen other animes do. Following the story was no problem with such an intro to it. Yet I missed that little extra in the sounds, that little extra that leaves you with the impression "Oh, shits about to go down now" kinda sounds/music. Still it was fairly enjoyable.
As for characters I feel it could have been done a little better. The amount of history put into them, doesnt add up to the amount we are shown. I feel as if I know the teacher Ootomo better than Harutora and the rest. Even though there is given alot of history to them, I still have no clue as to what really happened when Harutora was younger or when anyone was, theres simply a lack of debts to them. I mean, isnt it weird that the story is mainly focused around this Tsuchimikado Yakou guy, and we hardly know shit about him or what happened to him when he was alive. Maybe they should have freed some room for a little backstory instead of providing us with small, unnecessary fillers.
Even though I said all that, this show still provided me with a lot of enjoyment and fun, and as to the ending being an ending I prefer over any other, there was no major disappointments to this show (that i noticed). So dont do as me and put it on hold after 6 episodes, make sure to watch it trough to the end straight away so it doesnt get confusing. I highly recommend this anime to all you out there who hasnt watched it, and lets all pray for a Season 2 :)

Akatsuki no Yona (Yona of the Dawn), an anime that will leave you in chills after every single episode. This is what an anime should be all about, forcing its way to your heart and really making the watcher feel emotion after emotion. THIS is a true masterpiece.
Story: 10
There is absolutely no flaws in the story what so ever, the amount of creativity put into this anime is nothing but pure gold. Not leaving a single detail behind, making sure that the watcher fully understands and appreciate a work of art when he sees it. It truly sends shivers down my spine.

guess the amount of time it would take to draw and perfect this anime, but theres no doubt that the producers didn't leave a single detail behind. From the leaves on the trees to the expressions of the characters. It is truly amazing that they managed to hit spot on as well as they did.
Sound: 10
One of the key factors to making an anime successful is the sound used in it, and it can be really hard to manage to find the perfect song, but yet again I am not disappointed. By using half old japanese songs with not much instruments in it and not too fancy, you find yourself sent back to another time and it makes it even easier to follow the story than ever before.
Characters: 10
No details were skipped when they made the characters. From funny, to serious, to clever and smart, to strong, to weak and to plain dumb. This anime does not leave any information unsaid, from the past of the characters, to the way they act. Hell, I feel like I know Hak, Yun, Yona, Ki-Ja, Shinah and Jaeha (apart from Zeno, that guys a real mystery) better than i know my own family.
Enjoyment: 10
Apart from the lack of romance I would have wished for to see and the first episode that pretty much is a spoiler to the end, the amount of raw anime perfection leaves all that in the dust. I simply see no reason as to why I would rate this anime any lower than a 10.
If you love romance, fantasy, action, comedy, adventure, well as long as you love anime THIS is the anime for you.
This year is filled with animes that I can hardly wait too see, and I believe that this was only one out of many 10 I will be giving out in the future. What a start on the year Akatsuki no Yona.
