About Julianne_san
Hey there, I'm Julianne.

I'm 25, and love learning about the Japanese and their language, culture and heritage, thus why I am still watching anime. (though, I do find it entertaining and find it much more unique then most American shows/books)

Some of my favorites series (so far) include:
Rurouni Kenshin (English and Japanese)
Saiunkoku Monogatari (English and Japanese)
Emma: A Victorian Romance (Japanese only)
Clannad; Clannad After Story (Japanese and English)
Kanon [2006 version] (Japanese and English)
Itazura Na Kiss
Hanasakeru Seishonen
Kimi Ni Todoke (Season 1 & 2)
Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Some of my favorite movies (so far) include:
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time
10 Centimeters Per Second
Howls Moving Castle
The Secret World of Arrietty
Summer Wars
Castle in the Sky
and my mind is blank... I'll get back to you later.

Hey, happy birthday! I hope it's a great one. :>

No problem! I've only gotten to read the first volume so far, but it's good. My sister really really enjoyed it, and I look forward to seeing where it goes. :>

Well, I am trying to keep my TBW list limited to things I plan to watch in the near future. I still want to see Saiunkoku, but I'm not sure I will get to it soon. That could very easily change, however, as I tend to chose which anime I want to watch more on a whim than on a plan.

As far as stuff to watch, I can recommend a couple of things based on some of your MAL scores. I think that you should get into the work of Osamu Dezaki. He is one of my favorite directors and my favorite creative force in shojo. Rose of Versailles and Brother Dear Brother are both excellent series.

I also noticed that you quite liked Akage no Anne, so you should try out some more world masterpiece theater stuff, like Little Princess Sara, Nobody's Boy Remi (another Osamu Dezaki work, incidentally), or Romeo's Blue Skies.

Regarding Eden of the East specifically, you might try taking a look at Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. It's written and directed by Kenji Kamiyama, the same guy who wrote and directed Eden of the East and Moribito.

Alright, awesome. I thought so, but I wanted to be sure (I'm a bit paranoid xD; ). I think we're more likely to get to the manga than the show and it sounds like it'll be really excellent. Thank you so much for the info! I really appreciate it. :)

Ah, thank you so much! That sounds excellent. One more quick question--are there any differences in content between the anime and the manga?

EchoingTheme | 11-23-12, 11:42 AM
Hello! : > Happy day-after-Thanksgiving.

Since you're the expert, I was wondering if you could tell me about the content in Saiunkoku Monogatari? It looks like something my younger sister and I might enjoy together, but so far I haven't had the chance to watch or read it myself first.

Lol, I was just going too fast. There, I one-upped all of them. :) I didn't like the story after the Shishio arc, so it's not super-high.

goldenspines | 03-29-12, 6:55 PM
Thanks, I'll try to be finishing it soon. ^_^
A second season? O: I'll have to look into it since you enjoyed it.

Ah, I noticed you finished Chihayafuru. I watched it until episode 10, then grew busy watching other series. Is it worth finishing? If so, what do you like best about it?

goldenspines | 03-29-12, 5:21 PM
I'm really enjoying it! :D Though, it's currently on hold until I can grab the last few DVDs from my library. :< I do like the way the story is shaping up, though. I hope it has a good ending. ^_^
