Merry Christmas Julianna, here's another something I made specially for you:

Kurt_Irving Nov 23, 2023 5:25 PM
With that said, Happy Thanksgiving to Lady Julianna!

Nihongodera is definitely one of the most useful sites I've ever used after learning basic Japanese from said proxy sensei. I'm also using Japanese to replay Wild Arms 2 which could have been nominated as best JRPG of 1999.

I also cooked with cast iron this month. It made very delicious chicken wings and I would use it to make you a super savory pizza.

Halloween Day was very cool as of late.

I think that you would have made a perfect Rosa Joanna Farrell since you have those matching (and lovely) sapphire eyes.

Sapphire is my favorite gem by the way even though not all sapphire is blue (sometimes magenta like my Inkjoy), but when it has that beautiful blue color, it's just beautiful.

Grandia HD is getting interesting by the way. I know it's too soon for Christmas, but I would gladly get you the rare Wild Arms: Alter Code f whenever possible which has this awesome minigame.

Watching the movie Coco reminds me of the time I payed respects to my old chihuahua Eve (passed away last May). She's one pet I'll never forget and she was the best gift I ever had when I was 21 years old.

I would buy takeout everyday so that I could share some with said chihuahua.

So anyway milady, Happy November! :)

Happy Halloween! :)

With that said, I might check out those farming simulator games some time.

As for Ragnarok Online, I may check out the soul linker (part of the taekwon family despite their inability to use martial arts; instead of using melee combat they acquire knowledge and energy from the dead like a soul reaper) class some time. They're a special breed of conjurers which use ki energy to destroy their enemies or support party members. I'm glad that the soul linker class finally improved after 17 years. Finally rising to the top before fifth classes get implemented.

Speaking of taekwondo, I still need to improve my kicking. One sport that I'm really good at right now is slinging which require rotations like kicking (a great way to take remedial trigonometry). Can't wait to sling rugby-shaped ammo and see how far they can fly.

That said, I can't wait to make it to Silent Möbius QD. The sequel that came out ten years ago and nobody told me.
Kurt_Irving Oct 20, 2023 11:14 AM
Not sure yet, but I would dress up as a rebel from Ragnarok Online, wielding a heavy machine gun while wearing sunglasses like I'm the Terminator. The gunslinger class in Ragnarok Online would definitely be very easy for you because of their deadly arsenal. Able to blow away bosses with incredible force like a walking nuke.

That's true, they're still making anime like that future Gundam SEED movie a half-Asian tomboy told me about. I know a semitomboy who would be very excited to watch it. Good movies are hard to come by these days anyway.

I apologize for spoiling the story of that queen in some way, my bad.

*makes up and hugs*

Never in my high school years have I taken world history, but after overhearing honors students talk about the French Revolution, I looked it up online. I still remember that algebra teacher your age being the youngest teacher in that school.

Will do lady Julianna.

Apart from playing Grandia HD, I was also having fun playing ninja in Ragnarok Online, Shining Moon RO, that is. Can't wait to go from kagerou to shinkiro (advanced ninja).

I would definitely show you all the cool stuff happening there so far in that classic mmorpg anytime. I would even marry you in that game anytime whichever private server it may be.

Not sure if you know this already, but Grandia and Ragnarok Online belong to GungHo. With that game still around, there's a good chance that the fifth classes will be made.
Kurt_Irving Oct 11, 2023 4:31 PM
So yes Julianna-chan! Rose of Versailles is one of the best manga ever.

After watching some old Sunrise anime, I plan on watching Darker Than Black and other EVA Rebuild movies which my super tomboyish friend loves besides hiking.

I also look forward to Halloween Day in several weeks. Haven't worn a costume in ages.

As for Grandia HD, I love it.
Kurt_Irving Oct 4, 2023 4:19 PM
Shounen is a broad term, but battle shounen-wise, it's been ages since I last watched Flame of Recca was more enjoyable than I thought. A guy from Malaysia told me ages ago that the manga is even better, but I'll get into those unadapted chapters after Pluto and Silent Möbius (including sequels or sidestories that never got adapted).

Suikoden III was a very good video game to manga adaptation and the story was more detailed than its respective source material. I still think that another developer deserves the Suikoden franchise more than Konami. Konami nowadays only cares about panchiko and I prefer video games to that niche means of gambling (labeled as low-risk and low-strategy; so no form of RNG whatsoever). I got Grandia HD by the way and Suikoden 6 could have been something interesting if Konami cared.

With that said, I'm glad to hear that you had a jolly birthday. Autumn weather is kind of unpleasant for me, but that's life and I remember watching Rose of Versailles on a spring day. Next month is that dreadful, dead queen's birthday. That is, Marie Antoinette.

I don't approve of stealing, but she still deserves to have her jewelry stolen by Lupin and gang. Jewelry bought with the money she stole via taxes. Eating better food and having parties with twisted rich buddies for validation while mooching off of France, what a freeloader!

So yeah! Instant Japanese is definitely the best way to get started with nihongo. Best proxy teaching ever and after reading Instant Japanese (for kanas and everyday Japanese grammar only), you may play that Hiragana Battle game or memorize kanji (advanced Japanese stuff as you can see) via flashcards.
Kurt_Irving Sep 23, 2023 12:23 PM
With that said, I think that I got a special something ready for that special day. Well yes, its a Libra day, but more specifically, that special day is your birthday.

After reading Suikoden III, I decided to buy flash cards which I customized for kanji. Special thanks to Mr. Boyé's Instant Japanese book for helping me improve my hiragana and Japanese grammar. That guy is old enough to be my grandfather and I'm glad that that he lived long enough to help people learn Japanese indirectly.
Kurt_Irving Aug 28, 2023 9:13 AM
Hi Julianna! So how is your battle shounen kick by the way?

Oh yes! I think that your favorite season is coming up next.

As for my Japanese lessons, they're doing fine and kanji is getting kind of easy for me to learn. It does take time to get used to.

Can't wait to re-read Silent Möbius with the full Japanese text and messy overall furigana which you will see a lot on Japanese signs.

Speaking of manga, I really gotta make time for Suikoden 3.
Kurt_Irving Jul 26, 2023 8:58 AM
With that said, I've been wanting to share copy of said awesome Japanese learning book with you:

https://epdf.mx/instant-japanese.html
Kurt_Irving Jul 25, 2023 8:04 PM
Oh! Not to worry milady.

As for my Japanese lessons, I totally get the picture so far. In this language, you'll find yourself using the main alphabet, character set, etc or hiragana a lot. Hiragana is totally the best learning experience as of late and I can't get enough of it. No complex verb conjunctions or direct object pronouns are found. Direct object pronouns make Romance or southern European languages potentially harder than Japanese. My former classmate with Japanese family members told me that he flunked in French. He said that French was a whole different ballgame compared to Japanese, grammar-wise.

Katakana is basically just Nihonization of non-Japanese words that you'll see a lot on Final Fantasy Wikia. Your name would be Nihonized to ジュリアナ (Juriana in Engrish and made up of four katakana characters), so another example of when katakana or that special set of characters would be applied. As you can see, only original Japanese names can be written in the main Japanese character set or hiragana.

Kanji or Chinese characters are just another topic for another day. I would skip kanji like Instant Japanese suggests, kanji is underused in modern Japan (went from using 60,000 characters to 1,945 since the late Cold War) and if I want to get into Chinese characters, then I would read a Mandarin (written Chinese) 101 book later.

The problem with that Chinese language is that backtracking in grammar happens a lot like it did to Yao Ming. Yes, Chinese is very complex and potentially confusing like he implied in an interview. Again, Chinese (including Cantonese, the spoken Chinese) is another topic for another day. So I wouldn't worry about kanji as much.

By the way, I heard a great deal about Rumiko-san. My personal favorite manga from her would be Mermaid Saga. A semi-tomboyish friend of mine your age that loves retro anime (an 80s fangirl currently hanging out with her fiancé) doesn't really like her works.

Some Naruto fan about your age told me that she read Inuyasha. She started with the chapter Sunrise stopped at.

With that said, I agree with you about bugs. They've been really annoying to me this summer. Biting me every night and I need a broader repellent. Soybean oil only repels mosquitoes, but on the bright side, summer is cool overall.
Kurt_Irving Jul 16, 2023 4:10 PM
With that said, I hope that there are lots of aquaparks in Ontario for summer fun.

Would be great if I could take you to one (chances are, you went to one already). Although, picnics sound just as practical or more during the summer. A picnic would definitely be more of Misato's style if it means getting lots of beer.

Aside from playing some FF4, Gamepass stuff, Return of the King, beating FFX superbosses and renewal Ragnarok Online on PC, I've been proud of my new oven.

Now I'm really in the mood for potato wedges, but I really gotta get back to Japanese 101. Yes, I got Instant Japanese and I couldn't ask for a better book.

So yeah! Back to hitting the books and improving my abstract algebra. I know that no one likes summer school, but I'd like to get closer to a PhD.
Kurt_Irving Jun 25, 2023 9:01 PM
So yeah! School Rumble is getting really amusing. I love that King Kong reference. :)

Grabbing Yakumo and running to something tall to climb. xD

Thinking about Karen telling Kyosuke to get off his bum and run during that race was hilarious too. The stupid boy trying to train her like a horse with his little carriage and act like her coach. A double xD.

Funny how the Wikia says that Rosa has blue eyes (like yours), when her PSP sprite says otherwise. Imagine if Tetsuya Nomura designed FF4 characters.

Anyway! This game gets kind of grindy between the Sealed Cave (very difficult to get through without Reflect) and Luna. Yes, Cecil and his gang will eventually fly to the moon. Where the real fights begin.

My least favorite FF4 characters to use in battle are Yang and Edward. One misses his target, the other is just a useless bard.

The bard in Ragnarok Online is way better (able to own armored players by cutting HP combined with getting smacking by guitars like El Kabong style) and monks always tag their foes.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
