Sorry for the late reply.. anyway it's nice to see another person become a fan of Macross, especially via the original series which is just a classic.
Anyway I agree that those Macross shows will never get licensed, the situation is just one massive cluster fuck sadly. I would kill for an R1/R4 release of that Do You Remember Love Remastered DVD that came out in late 07. If the R2 had English subs I would've definitely imported it.
Iijima is indeed an amazing singer, my fav song by her in the tv series is "Watashi no kare wa pilot (My Boyfriend is a Pilot)" but her best is her DYRL theme song "Ai Oboete Imasuka (Do You Remember Love?)" which is quite simply the best insert song I've seen used in an anime.
Also I agree with you that Hikaru ended up choosing the right girl, even though I also really like Minmay, Misa was just the right person for him and I liked how their relationship developed over time.
Kanno was indeed amazing with her score for Plus, not just with her composing but also her singing throughout it as her alias Gabrille Robin. Hard to believe that was her second anime production isn't it? Also after the lackluster Darker Than Black soundtrack I think she is back in top form for Frontier. Insert songs are nice and one particular BGM was just epic.
You should just get the fansubs for the rest of the series because when it comes to Macross and licensing it's matter of "if" than "when" lol. You should check out Frontier asap!

Yeah, I remember asking you how you watched D.Gray-man (I had thought that maybe the show got licensed and was being streamed or something).
Was looking through MAL and really liked the interface and how easy it is to find similar shows and new anime, so I imported my list here.
