Old-head negresse who's been reading manga since 1987 & whose first anime, unbeknownst to her at the time, were Gigantor and Speed Racer. Yale-educated editor; spent decades working in NYC museums & libraries; currently disabled. Always loved animation, comic strips, etc. Pretty ecumenical about anime; we don't have to love the same stuff to vibe. Do my best to watch before major opining, especially when feeling a need to discuss how I'm less than impressed. (See also: Forced march through ALL the Urotsukidoji manga and videos before writing about the first two OVAs/movies. I think I owe that poor Kim's Video counter dude for therapy.) Love the snarky, the smart, the hilarious, the gorgeous, the kawaii, the twisted, the satisfyingly convoluted. Was lucky enough to get to hear the late, great Satoshi Kon speak in NYC; will always regret failing to bring my DVD of Millennium Actress for him to sign. Big shout-out to my Metro Anime peeps!
Been watching The Anime Man on YouTube since he was a wee slip of a thing -- back when he used to watch anime. Speaking of YT, another big shout-out to the righteous dude behind Anime Sins & Anime Wins! If y'all don't mind spoilers and appreciate good, witty reviews and summaries, I highly recommend them -- yes, *both* channels.
<-- P.S.: This is Winston. He does NOT approve.
