Haha, Garrod is quite awesome. One of the most likeable Gundam leads ever. I do agree with you on the old school AU awesomeness though. While I really liked season 1 of 00 (and SEED), both of their second parts failed to grab me at all and as such I've been taking an extended break from Gundam. Shame X ended up getting cut short though, cause I see more potential in it retroactively then SEED and 00.
