A little bit more about myself...well for starters, I love anime. I do try to get in as much anime as I can whenever I have time. Not too sure about manga though I do enjoy reading them now and then. (Of course, some series are much better read than watched. :) ) I'm pretty lenient as far as genres go. As long as a series delivers what it promises, I'm ok with that...usually.
Aside from anime and manga, I am a gamer at heart. I love gaming and play a lot of different series and genres. More specifically, I enjoy MMOs; particularly the RPG, FPS, and RTS archetypes. I am willing to try out different genres and games as they come and go. I enjoy being flexible with my collection of games. If you play a similar game(s), feel free to add me.
Drawing is also something I really enjoy doing. I usually draw manga/anime style though I can try and alter different styles and what not. A lot of my stuff is done through tablet but I still like drawing the traditional way now and then. Feel free to talk with me about anything drawing related. Always looking to improve my own skills as well as helping others.

I'm in complete agreement with the statement that one should never judge a book by its cover, but I strongly disagree with your impressions of Ore no Imouto.
Ore no Imouto's best qualities by far were production. Just aesthetically, there really is nothing to complain about, and it's generally above average in that department. Backgrounds and character designs are pretty solid, as well as the portrayal of each trip to different places in Japan. Production values are something I appreciate a lot from AIC in general.
However the story and characters are abominable. There is practically no character development in any shape or form of the term. By the end of 12 episodes, Kirino is still the same selfish, stubborn, and insensitive brat that really doesn't give two shits about her brother. And Kyosuke's devotion to her is baffling, given the number of irrationally cruel things Kirino does to her brother, and given the fact she is virtually never grateful for the countless number of times he takes the fall for her. I don't find it funny that the most ungrateful character I have witnessed in any show is not only having her cake, but she's eating it too, and no other characters ever consciously realize that.
You suggest that people can relate to the issues presented, when in fact it's extremely difficult to relate to the main characters in this show, due to how unrealistic and irrational Kirino is. It wasn't funny to me when she was kicking Kyosuke in the balls or ordering him to get run over by a truck for the sake of research. That's simply despicable and has no rational basis. Furthermore Kyosuke himself admits he doesn't even have a real reason for slaving away for his sister, other than for the sake of "doing it for his sister" despite the fact he also says he hates her.
The story also has pretty bad pacing issues and in several episodes abruptly skips to different scenes without a real sense of continuity. And a dues ex machina was definitely present in the one episode where Kanako out of nowhere wins a cosplay contest. I should remind you, Kirino was never actually grateful for getting the one of a kind figurine that several people went thought a lot of trouble to get for her. She probably was too busy calling her brother gross, when every sensible person knows that Kyosuke is unnaturally ordinary.
All in all, the complete and utter lack of character development is both terrible and irrational, on top of the fact that Kirino has many qualities that you typically give to a villain or anti-heroic protagonist. Note that nobody reprimands Kirino for her extremely obvious flaws. She's the definition of a bad and unappealing protagonist. Saki and Oigue from Genshiken kinda share several of Kirino's traits, but they are appealing because they have far more realistic interactions and development with other characters around them, as well as superior backstory. Kirino's general being a bitch just doesn't have a point, and leaves us with a washed-up fantasy tale that has nothing redeeming left.
I gave Ore no Imouto a chance, and it did turn out to be different from what its cover implied. I watched the show expecting a decent slice of life with a redeeming point about anime fans and otaku culture, since after all, my favorite show Genshiken was extremely successful with a formula like that. What I got was far worse; it was a blatant insult to the representation of anime fans. I don't interact with my little sister often, but she doesn't irrationally hate me. And anime fans are not generally selfish weirdos that demand to have their cake and eat it too.
I agree wholly on your review....Angel beats should have expanded the amount of episodes to at least 26...The character development would have been less forced and the story as whole might have had the cohesiveness that is necessary to attain a masterpiece status.
