I came by your post on the What popular anime do you hate? thread, and I have to say. I agree quite strongly to this. I've had so many anime where my enjoyment is marred because of the fanbase.

I know that is irrational and flawed, but for some reason it happens to me.

Another related point - many anime also get ruined for me by reading reviewers' opinions. It's not spoilers I'm talking about - it's the critical analysis to each and every aspect. I find myself unconsciously judging anime on this ridiculously high scale because of the amount of reviews I've read.
You know the typical air of reviews....The reviewer thinks they come off as more deep and better taste if they trash more anime. -__-
