I'm not your stereotypical otaku... In fact, I break about half the stereotypes out there. Didn't get into anime until about 3 years ago, but now I'm trying to get more involved. My vocabulary in anime is rather lousy, however. I have cosplayed a little, but haven't done anything too extensive.
Otherwise, IRL, I'm an accounting major and MIS minor at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, close to graduation and grad school. Any questions, just PM me ^^

Thanks! I think this series is going to be one of my all-time favorite Gundams. I'll have to be on the lookout for fan art and cosplay of that. *Snicker.* And I'll be in chat, I'll try to be a bit earlier than I have in the past. Ie, there before 10pm or around 10.
Outlaw Star has a good vibe. People like to compare it to Cowboy Bebop for some reason, but other than being bounty hunter space shows, they have little in common. And I enjoyed the over the top stuff in GL. I found myself shouting "Oh, get the hell out of here!" in disbelief at some of the stuff, but the show was a lot of fun to watch.

I've been watching Season 2 of Gundam 00 on TV. So far I love the series, I don't think I've been this entertained with a Gundam show since Gundam Wing or even the 08th MS Team. Although much of episode 8 was (unintentionally) hilarious with Teira pulling off his disguise quite well. But yeah, I'll agree with you, he's become a much more likable character in my eyes since the end of season 1 and the start of season 2.
I see you're also watching Outlaw Star. That show is one of my favorites. I had a chance to watch it twice in 1999/2000, followed by another viewing on DVD (I got the original black and gold box set) in 2007. Though I've noticed you rated slightly higher than I have. Your thoughts on the series so far? ^_^

Few questions:
This is the second week of showings, right?
Is membership still $6 even though the summer showings are shorter?
How've you been?! I haven't talked to you in a while, and my work likes to schedule me on Thursday nights T_T

The ending was pretty satisfying, sad but satisfying. And personally I think he's dead (I'll agree it was *possible* for him to survive) otherwise, the price he had to pay wasn't worth as much. I was going to hold my thoughts for a LJ entry, but I haven't had time to sit down and write. But uh, expect it soon.
Also, it's amazing how the Geass fandom is split over the ending and the show in general. I think I'm going to stay away from the Geass fandom for the most part. O_o

Well you're right about one thing (or a few actually)..
Code Geass R2 was a mess.. and Euphie's Death was 'better' lol..
But still .. the death of Shirley had quite some impact on Lulu.. and it was interesting to see how he would react under those extreme circumstances.
Those 'deaths' were certainly missing in Gundam 00 S2...
I remember the episode in Gundam 00 S2, where Marina almost died.. and she didn't..
And that was really shitty .. Becuz it think it would have a huge impact on Setsuna.. and would give him some character .. but it didnt happen.
I didn't care (much) about Anew or them Smirnov's actually..
There were too many characters with their stories to tell, and there were simply too many stories and not enough time.. Which resulted in cheap short shallow stories..
AKA: Failure, the characters didn't mature a bit and stayed shallow (IMO)
But anyway as for Saji/Louise:
Saji found out Gundam Throne was responsible for the death of Louise's parents..
Which was a HUGE FUCKING GIGANTIC discovery .. and what .. he didn't tell Louise..
And that was so fucking stupid .. there can be no discussion about this.. No it was fucking stupid. He should have told Louise ASAP .. Seriously..
Quote: "The reason I think they didn't put in the conversation between him and Louise is to show what happens when you find someone you care about on the opposite side of a war".
I don't understand that type of reasoning.
It's true that they were at oposite sites and they cared for eachother.
But there was simply No reason .. Not to tell Louise.. about Gundam Throne.. Louise's reason for fighting.. that she has been fighting the wrong war.
The reason why the writers probably didn't put it in... Was probably becuz they would be out of drama? So Louise finds out about it .. does a *facepalm* and Saji and Louise would happily ever after .. and the writers would need to think about something else to fill up the Show.
Well actually it would probably lead to more drama (but the writers probably didnt notice it becuz of their 'retardedness')
Since Louise was the main sponsor of the A-laws.. and probably wouldn't want to fight Celestial being then anymore.. she would problably want withdraw her investments in A-laws and maybe focus on finding remains of Gundam Throne instead.. Which could also be a nice dramatic alternative story..
But anyway .. this reply has become way too long..
As critical viewer whether it's anime or a (life-action) movie... I think it's important to be logical at least.. and Gundam 00 S2 just wasn't logical .. Vulcans (from Star Trek) would spit on this anime (or atleast on the writers / director) for doing such a bad job.
I'm amazed that still loads of people like the show a Lot! And didnt notice or ignored the errors made... I'm simply amazed..

I disagree with you.. (yer review of Gundam 00 S2)
Code geass R2 is a far better sequal than Gundam 00 S2..
The problem of Code Geass R2, was the spam of plot twists and plot twists and so on..
But Gundam 00 .. had an interesting plot and that totally turned to shit in S2..
And the characters didn't mature .. at all ..
F*ck! Setsuna is still Gundam obessed .. and nothing happened between him and Marina.. to name a few..
The drama between Saji/Louise was shit.. eventhough they met several times.. They never actually had a decent conversation about what bothered them the most and how things could be solved.. (This could have been done so easy.. as hell!)
So compared to Code Geass R2 .. Gundam 00 S2 totally turned to shit .. eventhough I liked Gundam 00 S1 a lot (except for the ending)..
But anyways.. why did you get the idea the characters matured?
Ok Setsuna shot Anew.. but still it was portrayed way too cheesy.. and who the fuck was Anew anyway .. some random new character.. compared to Shirley who died in Code Geass R2 .. Whose death actually had an impact .. to me atleast.. :|
I'm not really a fan of R2, but Gundam 00 S2 really turned me down..

I got into Pokemon when I was about 15, and even saw the movies in theaters. I found the first movie to be disappointing, 2000 was a bit better, 3 was decent 4Ever was good, 5 was good, and didn't bother anymore beyond 6. The formula for such a long running anime just became stale, though the newest generation of the games are still fun.
And what? I really, really like Puni Puni Poemy. I think its retarded style of humor is quite funny, it's not like the show takes itself seriously. Though I admit, you would have to have special sense of humor to fully enjoy it. :D

Dude, not to say I haven't watched (and perhaps even enjoyed) a handful of Pokemon episodes myself, but you seriously watched FIVE Pokemon movies? Well, I'm at least glad you enjoyed 2000 so much.
