I'm more curious about why the star wand is considered important to R!Syaoran's mother. I think CCS!Sakura's choice in giving her wand away is kinda easy to guess judging from her personality and how practically everyone in both xxxholic and Tsubasa wants a "better future" XD
Of course there are various possibilities in the ways of how CLAMP chooses to provide answers to fans' questions. Xxxholic is definitely a possibility...as for another manga....HMM that'll be awesome, but at the same time I think that's just too much...

A connection itself does not explain the implications behind it, there has got to be a reason and explanation or fans are going to get a bit upset.
We don't know for sure on whether or not there is a connection between CCS and Tsubasa. CCS! Sakura's star wand in imo though can be considered as an indication of some sort of connection. However, then again, Clow and the Sakura (who we think is CCS!Sakura because of the star wand) for all we know could be another version of the CCS! versions.
CCS!Sakura's star wand itself isn't a good representative of Clow's magic though - the star wand is completely made out of CCS!Sakura's own powers. But there IS Clow's magic...which R!Syaoran's father has.
Just like how we need an explanation behind the star wand, we'll need an explanation behind why R!Syaoran's father has Clow's magic. CLAMP won't simply just say "this is this and that's it". They know the importance in giving meaning or reasoning behind everything, and it shows from Fei Wong's reaction to R!Syaoran's father having Clow's magic. Do you think that CLAMP will just leave that and other questions unexplained and justt finished the manga for the sake of just finishing it?
Why else do you think they went through all that trouble to start showing us R!Syaoran's parents' past..? Imho, I think it's jut to further explain and clear up the many questions that fans have...

Well I thought the same too, it's just that up to a point I thought...oh man...I see where this is going. And bam, not just me but a handful of others just "knew it". We were surprised, but probably not caught off guard like the revelation of C!Syaoran and C! Sakura or like Fai's past.
I can't possibly believe that CLAMP will leave something like CCS!Sakura's wand totally unexplained. It's not CLAMP to leave it at that, especially since they specifically said the wand is considered to be important to R!Syaoran's mother - why? There has got to be a reason. I'm sure CLAMP will go back to it.....it's not so hard to believe in that possibility since right now they are covering the parents' side of the story..

I don't think the length of a manga can determine whether or not there will be more stuff to surprise us O_o;;
If not twists or anything, there are definitely tons of questions where CLAMP has got to find a way to answer - especially the CCS connection whether or not it's big or not. I doubt they are going to leave that unexplained unless something happens and they put the series on hiatus like X/1999 or Gouhou Drug..
As for whether or not we can be surprised by whatever CLAMP gives us...I think it all comes down to subjectivity. I wasn't so surprised with the whole major time paradox thing with C!Sakura and C!Syaoran....but I sure as hell was surprised when we learned about the truth about the clones.

No I never said with a longer storyline...CLAMP can easily twist something in there in a short amount of time
