Plus, if you only watched the first 3 eps. of PPD, you missed one of the best ones (though I'd have to go back and look it up to figure out which one it was).
There are a couple of characters that kind of feel flat, but then again, in this type of show, the characters and their development isn't the strong point. If it did devote time to developing them, then I think the show would lose a lot of its... well unique charm, I guess.
I like a lot of the characters in PPD. They all have their roles and they each fill their roles well. There are a couple of characters that go above and beyond their contrived cut-outs, but overall, I feel the show does an adequate job of showing their sides.
What didn't you like about Pani Poni?
If you end up liking Sketchbook, you must immediately track down ARIA, it's even better and it's made by the same people.
Also, I'm surprised you didn't watch Nyankoi... it's humor seems to be perfect for you, judging by some of your selections.
Also, keep an eye out for Bungaku Shoujo once it releases. You can find a 17 minute long "preview" of it floating around. Quite interesting.
