That's a good idea and since you can wait, I suggest you wait for the extended version of 23 minutes per episode instead of 20. I also think I prefer Shin to Mazinkaiser.

Mazinkaiser was cool, but it was only fights and fights.

Shin Mazinger rewrites the lore and its plot is a lot more interesting.

I really suggest you give Shin Mazinger a chance again ^^ if you can. Episode 1 starts in media res and is mostly some sort of preview of things to come. That's why it's kinda confusing to new peeps.
