I'm Foggle. I like to think I'm funny. I love funk and jazz. Writing is probably my favorite thing to do.

Congrats on Eva 3 review. Everything you wrote abaout the movie is, unfortunatelly, true.

I saw the camrip from a month or two ago. Since it was a low-quality deal, I don't think it's fair for me to even list it as having really seen it yet.
That said, I still liked it a lot, but I'm withholding any sort of solid judgement calls until I can see it on BD. I remember liking its sense of apocalyptic desolation and emptiness, as well as its use of minimalism throughout the NERV HQ scenes. That seems to pervade down through the script and into the narrative, given Shinji's figurative and literal isolation from anyone he's known. In that sense, 3.0 did a remarkable job at contrasting itself to the action-packed, speedy fiesta of a film that was its precursor.

Checked out your 3.0 review. Gainax hasn't been producing the Evangelion Rebuild stuff; they're involved only so far as Khara shares some veteran Gainax animators. The puppet show's been Anno's game from the start.

Reading your 3.0 review... Kaworu and Shinji's relationship in NGE felt genuine, really? It was crammed into a single episode and felt like their relationship advanced extremely quickly. If Shinji didn't do what he did to Kaworu at the end of the episode, the next step probably would've been gay sex at the pace they were going. lol
I felt that the pacing and the less obvious nature of how 3.0 built their relationship felt a lot more convincing. But it too felt a little bit "manufactured" as you said, mainly the ever-so-slightly ridiculous piano scene where Shinji seems to instantly learn how to play the piano well enough to play a duet with Kaworu.

"Unlike in NGE, however, their interactions feel manufactured instead of genuine; an attempt at shallow fanservice rather than a pivotal moment in the protagonist’s character arc… a character arc that hardly even exists in this film."
Bullshit, their interactions feel much more genuine in 3.0, in NGE Kaworu appears and dies in the same fu**ing episode, they got more screen time in 3.0 than in all of NGE and End of Evangelion.

Exactly!
the first part was nice, not good as some people thought, but it was nice.
the second part was just horrible, the only reason i didnt give a 1 for the series is the first arc.
but the downhill,oh,what a downhill,I never thought it will get so bad.

Thank you for the kind comment, recommendations and tipps, I appreciate them!
I indeed enjoyed Inuyasha but my rating is probably biased. It was the first anime I did not watch on TV and the one that got me into all this.
After that in the message I only expressed my happiness that finally I found someone elso who considers TTGL overrated and then thanked you for everything. ;-D
Just recently I finished watching Kino no Tabi: The Beautiful World and enjoyed it a lot! If you like a rather calm, episodic anime with a passive and pleasant protagonist and if you can handle or even enjoy the slightly obvious and biased societal parables that explore the depths of mankind's ruthlessness and stupidity, then I can definitely recommend you those 13 episodes.
Obviously you should not watch it only because I like it, especially Kino no Tabi is not something for everyone but the fact alone that this was the first protagonist who never really annoyed me with stupid actions and choices but rather pleased me with a prudent attitude made every minute already well spent to me.

you've got so many replies for your mars of destruction review. but i feel the need to say that it moved me to tears. one of the greatest pieces of writing on the internet. i also agree that Beethoven's talents were truly utilized in the making of this anime.
