Yup, I am indeed Asian! That's cool you're studying English/CW - I've got a lot of friends swinging that path too actually, they're more into screenwriting for film and television lately though rather than the literary stuff.
My internship ended since I'm in school now (last year finally). Been so busy but since it was Thanksgiving season here I finally got a short break to be on here, but other than that just nonstop work bahh
Yeah I recently reviewed and changed some of my anime ratings because I was never as harsh a critic as I am now, and when I rate something that is quite acceptable but not amazing 6 or 7 and I look back I've rated something bad 6 or 7... It's like right I think this needs sorting XD. Too inconsistent.
Yeah I agree about the dancing scene, that was weird, I kind of blinked and was like 'eh?' I suppose it was to emphasise that fact that Kouichi was in looooove ;)
I didn't mind the Head of Countermeasures girl at the start but then they gave her no backstory or anything to hold on to, so yeah even when all the characters DIIIIIEEE you don't feel anything for them. I liked Teshigawara, I was kind of glad he didn't die (though almost did by the crazy old woman who was... a bit random?). Even though he tried to kill the nerdy looking one I felt kind of sorry for him, I guess it was because he was the upbeat, likable personality in it all.
Haha I never watch the short clips at the end, even if I watch the ending credits I always pause or close the window before the next episode preview. Half the time it tells you what is going to be in the next episode in a nice brief summary that spoils the whole thing. XD
"fire spreads a lot faster than it did there." actually I think it was contained, a lot of restaurants and hotels and things use fire safety doors so they contain the fire, the thing that unleashed the fire was the explosion and then it spread around the building after that.
I must admit though I don't know how anime horror characters (generally) always seem to find 'convenient' weapons, like in the last episode of Another a few of them were going around with giant pointy squewers that came from? and how Mei conveniently appears with a pick-axe. It happened a lot in Higurashi too xD.
Haha yeah I could see the umbrella thing happening it was like ........ e.e'' *splat*.
Some of the 'gorey' scenes were quite funny though, I laughed so much at the Kouichi dream sequence where he melts. XD
What did you think overall? I thought the dead person was kind of predictable when you got too the penultimate episode, but it was still a surprise up to then. Though I suppose if I'd paid attention better to what was said at the start it might have helped. Overall though I think it was interesting and better than a lot of anime 'horror'. I especially think whoever directed the soundtrack deserves some praise because the music made it in my opinion (and I can still hear the main background song in my head).
Kouichi the main guy isn't really annoying all the time through it as well (like most horror main characters seem to be) which is refreshing, in fact he's strangely impassive throughout considering all the weird, crazy stuff that happens around him.
I thought it was pretty good and it gets really interesting in the last 3/4 episodes. :D Short and sweet.
I am dropping by to say, I think you'll like Another. I'm quite liking it so far, it's not a 10/10 in my mind but it's quite good (very atmospheric), I think I might finish it by tomorrow. :D
Make sure you watch the uncensored version aye? ;)
