Here we have Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch R2...

Before i start to analyze my ratings i'd like to say that having heard so much praising for this anime my expectations were quiet high to begin with.

Generally while R1 had so much potential for a deep and original plot , R2 came to wreck ... any p rogress R1 had made towards a unique and truly meaningful show.

Story: 5

While the flow in R1 was easy to follow yet fulled with plot twists and unexpected events nicely mingled around the main character's objective, R2 follows a too fast pacing targeting to "paralyze" the viewer with shocking but poor and in the end meaningless twists leaving the viewer with a "mindfucked" impression so that its plenty plot holes go by unoticed.

Art: 7

Even if everyone says the art is one of the strongest points of the anime i think i'll have to disagree. If i had to describe the character art i'd say "over-streched moe beings". Ofcourse having seing the manga's art it's clear that they were designed as they were depicted in the manga. However having the sam overstylized character designes as some light novel adaptations, it's really hard in my opinion to take this anime seriously even if it has to do with mature and violent themes. Another con considering the art is repetitive and overacting idles of some characters such as Zero's ( that over-dramatic hand move he makes every time he thinks he's saying something big) or the guy who could read thoughts (with his getting-on-one's-nerves clap clap). Well at least the mecha designs weren't THAT bad.

Thankfully i was pleased by the musical investment of the show and the opening-ending songs.

Character: 5

It wasn't in fact coincidental that i wasn't moved by most of the character's deaths because simply most of them didn't have any character (development)! Lelouch was the angst-revenge-magically ingenious type of character and while at least in R1 we could see some of his inner monologue thoughts in R2 he just acts with no known motive until literally his lasts moments so he can become the martyr for the later good in the eyes of the viewers, but serisously in R2 Lelouch became for at least the half season just a stranger in my eyes. Then you got Suzaku and his ever ending dilemas until suddently all of them are gone and becomes a faithful follower in the requiem zero plan showing not real emotion from at least the second half of the season and on. Lastly we got Jeremiah who Suddently in turns to Lelouch side even though loyalty to Queen Marrian doesn't justify at all why he wants to be faithfull to Lelouch since until then his willpower seemed to be taking revenge from Zero/Lelouch. There are a bunchfull of characters who suddently turned the complete opposite for no real reason like King Charles and Queen Marrian, etc...

Enjoyment: 6

To be honest when i started the series i was wandering from the inside "What makes people put this show so high on their lists?". Sadly i was left with the same question till the very end of the show whose main objective seemed to be just to "hook" the viewer with some cheap plot twists and get a good sponsorship from yall' good "pizza hut" (seriously the commercial intention was too strong with this one). Even the fanservice seemed out of place as everyone would just go silly in these events making it seem more like a fanservice ova/filler. Well at least the battles could somehow keep you satisfied before they became too repetitive and unnecessary.

Overall: 5

Conclusion: you must be too easily impressed to seriously hype so much about a show that mix and matches mecha with school drama and yall' good "revenge" angst. It was just a Frankenstain show trying out its commercial skills

Claymore originally was a manga by Norihiro Yagi and was released as an anime in 2007. It's one of the most well known anime due to its unconventional setting and plot.

Story: 8

Claymore has quite an interesting and original plot. The story consendrates around Clare a female warrior of a secret organisation that serves the purpose of excincting the Yoma monsters. The atmosphere in the anime is pretty dark, maybe a little gory for some but that is one of the things that adds suspense to the show. For the first third of the show the viewer is getting used to the settings, the ... protagonist's psychosynthesis and backstory, when in the second part more attention is given to the present events. The third part is the black spot of the anime for various reasons. Whereas for the rest of the show manga's guidlines were followed more or less the final episodes took a completely different and ridiculus for me turn. Everything was rushed up and the ending was pretty tucky, although the directors had made these changes with a second season in mind which i can't really underestand how would be possible since with Priscilla's death the manga could be hardly followed. If only they didn't rush to an ending the anime would be so much better.

Art: 8

Claymore's art is quite characteristic. The muddy color palette, the slender characters with the sharp yet melancholic look etc. They did a pretty good job in terms of animation, although i think they overdid it a bit with the "scenes replay" likewise Teresa's beheading etc. Again the third and last part from the battle in the north to the volcano battle was kinda tacky and poor again, but overall the art matched the plot and the atmosphere of the anime very well when it followed manga's character's designs

Sound: 9

The anime had one of the most beautiful openings and endings in my oppinion. As for the rest of the ost i think it fitted the anime nicely although you could pretty much guess when each soundtrack would appear, for example Teressa's theme appeared when something miraculous happened or when some kind of "savior" appeared.

Character: 8

The good thing with this anime's characters is that even though their looks might be similar to one another each one was given a distinguish personality . There was a wide range from quiet yet wise and skilled like Irene to cold and sadistic like Ophelia. Also even though all Claymores had gone through the same experince in the organisation it's really remarkable how each one adapted this experience and how it altered each one's character in a different way. The weakest character by some may be Raki since he's a bystander and sometimes a "burden" to the propulsion of the story but in my opinion he's needed because he makes a really nice contrast to the naivity and immaculateness of a young human contrary to an experienced and unmercyfull Claymore. He's also the anchor that many times detered Claire from giving up the battle between her human self and her inner Yoma.

Enjoyment: 7

It was a really interesting and suspenfull anime with a variety of interesting characters and a dark and misty atmosphere. However i can't easily overlook the ending part which kinda made all the hard work in the rest of the anime go in vain.

Overall: 8 even though for me would be a 9 since it's one of the most intriguing and suspensefull animes.

Well here we have an one of a kind anime. First of all i'd like to say that it's not an ordinary anime in terms of storyline and art style which gives it a some good headstart points in my opinion. So let's see my rates per section,

Story: 7

As i said Chevalier D'eon storyline can't be easily compered to any other anime's storyline. As a historical anime it takes place in France in the time of Loui's XV reign some time before the French Revolution. It includes a variety of historical figures such as the King Loui XV, Madame de Pompadour, Marie ... Antoinette and even Chevalier D'eon himself (even if he's not faithfully portraited). It also takes a wonderful advantage of historical events as well, something which can be as good as it is bad since many people are unfamiliar with France's history. However with basic knowledge of French revolution i didn't meet any difficulties to follow the flow, but since anime has a huge part of its fanbase in Japan and America it might be a little difficult for some people to relate the events. Now speaking of the story's flow. Chevalier D'eon's first few episodes could be characterised as "slow" and "unintriguing" in some terms but i well petience shall always be rewarded and in this case it was rewarded indeed. At episode 10 or so personally it got my attention fully caughted. Many things remain a mystery until the later episodes where we have a rather too quick turn of events. Plus i'd like to say that is not one of those "lived happily forever after animes". Quite a few characters deaths are included so if you ask for the happy ending anime this might not be for you. The negative thing with the storyline though is that the whole "poets" and "psalms" thing is kinda difficult to fully underestand with the first watch of the anime.

Art: 9

Well this was the most pleasant part of the anime for me! It is one of the few animes that prefered the semi realistic anime art style instead of more stylish anime styles. Where shall i begin; Let's start from the characters. Considering the faces i would describe them as pleasently melancholic specially the down pointed eyes. The rest characteristics such as face shape are more subtle yet characteristic for each character. The hair were quite pleasant too with natural tones and realistic hairstyles. The outfits however were simply eye gasmic in my opinion specially the ladie's ones (exept Lia's which was out of era since they gave it a lolita style as a tribute to the manga i guess). Lastly considering static scenes well ofcourse there was some static dialogue here and there but i don't think it was too much of a problem. The one thing that bothered me in art style though were the psalm's letters. They looked kinda like out of place watermarks in many points but well i guess they were added as a layer upon the frames since it would be quite troublesome to be drawn directly upon the scenes because of movement etc.

Sound: 7

Well this rate field is always the most short one for me. The anime had nice opening and ending songs however i don't seem to remember any characteristic music through the show. I think it might have lacked in this part but it doesn't concerns me though

Character: 7

Well character development in this anime could be this anime's weakest point. First of all we have the protagonish D'eon. Again even if he's a main character he doesn't seem to have much depth. He is the usual idealist kind of guy who tries to ensure everyones safety with his qualities such as his siste's soul peace and to serve the king and his country. However one could say his other hald Lia spices up the interesting upon him a bit because of her abnormal story and presence. Durand from the other hand is the "sacrise for what is really worthy" character and even if he's a little bit cliche there is a interesting contrast between the first impression you get about him as he seems the egoistical type of person, the one who serves a secret and probably evil purpose and the later impression which is this of the one who puts his duty and personal favot away from his friends. For the most of the other character i simply say " don't rely on the first impression because nothing is what it seems to be". The most interesting character for me though was Robin. Yes the little red haired boy. He seems indifferent at first but after all the attrocities he has witness, the traitory and the cruelty of the world he get's a 180 degrees turn as he will question what is the right and what's wrong and in the end well i promise he puts all of his experiences from this story in a good place.

Enjoyment: 7

It was a pleasant anime indeed a bit confusing maybe but pleasant for someone who seeks a rare anime delicatessen. The characterisation historical might put off a lot of people but i promise it's full of intrigue, traitory, unexpected turns and it even contains romance. Just be patient through the first few episodes and i promise it'll pay off later as we speak of an one of the kind anime.

Overall: 7 (with a mathimatically average mean) but for me it's an 8
