About Eluvium
I particularly enjoy any anime that will stimulate my thoughts of existance, human nature and meaning in life. This owes to the fact that i would consider myself a philosopher, otherwise termed as a lover of wisdom. I like to add to my life by the use of a logical thought pattern to make philosophies to apply in my life.

Don't hesitate to tell me about any i may enjoy :)

hmmm.......dunno....but don't you think you would get tired of life after a few hundred years? it's just like sitting in a room without anything to do and you can't leave the room (great metaphor, wasn't it?^^)

i just find the thought scary, that there is no end to life at all Oo kite...hmmm....maybe i'll give it a try.....after i finish all of satoshi kons masterpieces :)

nah i don't, but it doesn't matter to me, i wouldn't live my life different from the way i do now. life is too short to worry about what comes after.basically i think you come from nothing and you go to nothing , and what would be the point of
an eternal life? horrible to imagine an eternity with nothing to do, but to think about how pointless everything is. everything is enjoyable in the right dose, it's no different with life. btw. i just watched perfect blue, what a sick and depressing movie........xD but great nevertheless.... :)

everyone has his own rituals ;)

dunno, only watched one ep so far, well it's typical shounen but.....guess I'll give it a try. you should check out kurozuka, it's mindfuck and has a horror/post-apocalyptic scenario, best sub comes from ureshii ;)

you repeat yourself^^ and no it's not, real drive is basically a moe show with some sci fi elements (theres absolutely no mindf*ck in this) , also the real plot starts very late in episode 18 or so, definitely not as good or deep as lain, but enjoy dennou coil it's great.... :)

yeah of course i can identify with escapism, i'm growing out of it, though. well, if you don't accept life, the only logic next step would be to kill yourself, or wouldn't it? (you should really read "the myth of sysiphos" by camus ^^) the question is what do you gain from killing yourself? nothing. even the opposite, you loose something.....an opportunity... and sry but do you seriously mean that you don't do anything fun, except for escaping life? that would be sad... and another problem about life is you can't even kill yourself without a problem, because you have friends, family...and btw. there isn't a single human who would kill himself for a senseless world , there are always more reasons... ;)

Nihilist | 11-14-08, 5:05 AM
of course there's no point, but there's also no point in listening to music, having fun etc., but you do it nevertheless, don't you? ^^ what's important is how to enjoy life and/or find a sense for yourself.... ;) btw. things like these take time, but they happen. circle takes the square is win!!! :D can't wait for the new album^^ and you've started js season2, i should get on with season3, but i can't motivate myself... -.-

Nihilist | 11-13-08, 5:07 AM
and i know what you mean, most people just seem to focus on eating, sleeping, buying ^^

Nihilist | 11-13-08, 5:06 AM
well no beginning --> no end^^? only your life will end one day, that's all, and well there's no solution for that, guess you have to find you own reason for going on living.... ;) i think i'm living for the sake of other people to purchase happiness for the ones around me and not at least for myself.....but i can understand how you feel, i think weltschmerz is quite common ^^, but believe me it's worth going through it, besides better to do it now, then being 40 and suddenly realising your life makes no sense to you ^^? btw. what music do you like? :)

Nihilist | 11-12-08, 4:59 AM
i understand your point, someone has to touch the ball before it starts moving, but then who touched god? when you go back this way it brings you to eternity.....or to the thought that there maybe was no beginning (i know how that sounds^^) and as you said of course there is no point in anything, but you get up every morning though, don't you? life has a certain quality for us i believe, at least it's attractive to live it...(and if not for your self, then at least to support others). and i agree with you the old heaven and hell play is pretty boring.....i mean what would we be doing for eternity in heaven? watching tv, getting a good beer with jesus and co. ? ^^ apart from that i think there is no point in always being happy, or said differently you can not be truly happy if you've never been real sad...(have you ever read brave new world? ) and why are you jealous of me, it took me a long time to get this state of mind and it's still changing though, i think everyone has to make his own journey ;)

Nihilist | 11-10-08, 1:46 PM
for sure, why not? :) an important step, in my opinion, is to discover the true meaning of the word sense....there is none, things can have a purpose, seeds e.g. to spread it's own kind, but there is no such thing as sense in nature, nothing has a deeper meaning, but for me this isn't something bad, it more frees you from your own useless expectations and gives you the ability to express yourself and follow your own desires. and of course there isn't a meaningfull thing in life, as long as you don't choose one to be. life is an experience and therefore(is it written that way ^^? ) we should enjoy it. what would interest me, if you believe in god , but don't in a general meaning of life, how do you combine/compare those two things? :)

Nihilist | 11-09-08, 1:40 PM
well if you ask me directly, i have to say no, because it's just not possible for a human to free himself from all believes even believing in nothing, makes you believe in something ^^ but in general i think that there is no real value or sense in anything, yes. the universe doesn't know moral. but that doesn't mean i don't have my own values like altruism etc., i just don't believe they can be made reasonable by any other means then my own will (there was a quote from nietzsche in that direction, but i can't recall it...^^) in general i'm highly influenced by camus and his work( such as "the pest" and "the myth of sysiphos") ... ;)

Nihilist | 11-05-08, 8:06 AM
you seem like a interesting person to talk to(especially because you're a philosopher) and you are also into psychological/mindfuck anime, thought i'd say hello :) you've just finished cat soup, so what do you think of it?

Bordello | 11-04-08, 11:05 PM
I guess
