Why I did enjoy "Mirai Nikki" at first and why it fell from grace (in my opinion)
First of all, the plot was hilarious. Honestly. The ideas the producers had and how the story proceeded was very well done. It was like a bizarre mix of "Death Note" and "Steins;Gate", with elements of both included. And, just by the plot presented, this anime could compete with Fullmetal Alchemist and Steins;Gate for the first place.
So why didn't that happen?
It's hard to say, where exactly this anime went downhill. Some of the characters were very convincing (Minene Uryuu [Who developed greatly from an rather medium to one
...
of my favorites],Gasai Yuno [Who surprised me every time she did something, because her actions where not foreseeable, even if the rest of the casts' actions were]), some were kind of ok, and some were so damn annoying I had to take a break, because I couldn't stand them by any manner (Mur Mur)
and some where just so mysterious, that I stopped caring (Deus Ex Machina [SPOILER: Who amused me by doing by his name one time], John Baccus].
My twice-biggest problem is the main characters attitude to act like Shinji Ikari (not to mention Akise Arus alias Kaworu), which means, that he is completely useless most of the time.
And my second biggest problem, is the ending. Not the ending itself to be precisely, but the way you are feeling from about episode 21 to the end. Thing is, that i personally thought, that the final has come now. And now. But now they will finish it. Oh no. They won't. They needed like five episodes to tell their ending, which was completely unnecessary. An ending is presented to you, with which you would be totally fine, but yet another one is presented, and another one. And this is, why this anime is not really worth watching. Most animes got a problem presenting an ending, or an ending with which the people can live. But this one tried to insert every element, that was successful in other animes, to his own, even if it was unnecessary to do so, because the story would have worked perfectly well without it.
Résumé: Great start, great plot, some great some horrible characters and an ending, that just did not want to ever end.
