I only judge anime within my boundaries. Meaning, if I am not fond of a style or genre, I simply don't say anything of it. My dropped list consists of anime that either didn't appeal to me or that I didn't enjoy. I generally stick to watching more serious anime geared towards either adults or teenagers which aren't too heavy on romance, drama, or silliness, but I do still try to give everything a fair chance before giving up on them. If there are any anime you think I may have overlooked or prematurely dropped, feel free to let me know.
If you are as big of a music lover as I am, then you have stumbled upon the right profile. I am currently in the process of posting blogs that show off some of the best music anime has to offer. Please check them out if you are interested, and keep checking back for updates because I have a lot more great stuff in store for you in the near future.
You're still watching Aku no hana? I gave up on that series into episode 2. Besides the horrible aesthetics, the series had an interesting premise, but I saw no indication of it being utilized at all. I probably won't pick it back up.
Don't fret there's even more retarded developments to come with little exposition to them. On another note, this season has produced no anime of good quality. The spring season usually a few or at a least a couple of good series to offer intelligent anime fans, but this spring season is different as the industry continues to cater to younger demographics with stupid moeshit and bad mecha anime.
I've read most of the Chimera ant arc and I had the same impressions as you did, but the arc gets better as it goes along and actually illuminates the motivation behind what the antagonists are plotting.
I'm not the masochistic type that takes pleasure in inflicting pain onto ones mind. I hate how obnoxious and annoying the main character is to the point of being a naruto clone; I must kill the titans, instead I will save sasuke. I'm at the point where I want to main character eren to die a slow and agonizing death. Did you see the transformation of Eren into a Titan? Of course the main character has these amazing powers that no one else has and is the only one that can stop the titans; I have read all 45 chapters in the manga and no explanation is given as to why Eren is actually a titan. Spoiler alert! they're more insignificant characters that turn out to be titans.. I also find Armin to be a useless weakling that doesn't contribute to the show whatsoever and he's one of the most important characters. Not to mention the oh so sombrous scene in episode 7 where he's crying out names of people that the viewer doesn't give two shits about, because these background characters are merely props that are given little screen time so that the viewer cannot empathize with these deaths. I'm done pontificating on how horrendous this series has become despite the interesting premise and in addition the vast majority of the users on this site that enjoy this putrefying piece of shit.
You're finally watching Shinsekai yori :). The series progressively get better in the second half, so just weather some of the boring moments of the first half of the series.
I almost caught up the to date on the manga of attack on titan and yet very little has developed into so far as to answers your questions concisely. The manga is filled mostly with scenes of gore and irrelevant secondary characters dying. The source material is overhyped, which has translated to a much larger degree for the anime adaption.
What did you think of Shingeki with five episodes airing so far? I have read about halfway through the incomplete manga and still the question as to where the titans came from and why they came from have yet to be addressed; they only slightly hint at them having intelligence. There's also a weird twist that happens so enough, but I? won't spoil as you probably won't continue watching the series. Lol.
You have to listen to me more often, when it comes to recommendations as our tastes almost mirror one another to the point where I believe there's a chance that you could be my evil twin. I also notice you watched Higashi no eden and I believe I also recommended that show.........Lol.
Do you know a streaming site where I can find Turn A gundam?
I would recommend the new Hunter x Hunter, however I prefer the voice acting cast of the previous adaption, that said there's less fillers in the latest adaption of Hunter x Hunter. I've followed the manga and the story does get worse after the greed island arc with the story becoming more incoherent and losing its focus.
Stein gate does pick up in the second half, but I won't be lauding it with praises, because the first half of the series is basically boring slice of scenes with comedic aspects and there's the not to subtle hareem element in the series. The series is good overall, despite it's shortcomings ( concept of time is a little inconsistent in how it affects the world around them) but it doesn't deserve its ranking as the third best anime on this site; in short very overrated.
Not too much, but I've been revisiting the techno-influenced Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt and enjoying the jazzy Bartender and Sakamichi no Apollon. Other than that, there's the haunting Shiki and the more relaxing 5 cm Per Second, Mawaru Penguindrum, NANA, Natsuyuki Rendezvous and Windy Tales. Hopefully, I'll get around to checking out some of the following in the near future:
Baccano!
Fate/Zero
Inferno Cop
Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (2012)
Lupin the Third: Mine Fujiko to Iu Onna
Nazo no Kanojo X
Psycho Pass
Shinsekai Yori
Tatami Galaxy
Uchuu Kyoudai
Zetsuen no Tempest
The problem with Stein gates is that almost half of the anime filled with nothing relevant to the theme off time and the series picks up in the second half; even most fans of the series say that the first 10 episodes or so are pretty mediocre. Haibain renmei can be pedantic like Aria the animation with it's slow pacing, but the setting and subtle message of the anime make up for its other shortcomings. I definitely recommend you to watch Planetes as i's a much better version of Uchuu Kyoudai with likable characters, solid character development, a good storyline, moderate pacing and the series gets progressively better after each episode. The series can seem episodic at first, but the main character has real goals that tie all of the episodes together and the process he goes through to achieve his dream is realistic, but exhilirating at the exact same time.
Yeah, I have also canvassed your drop list and there's some titles that are worth watching; Nana, Usagi Drop, Kuragehime, Dog of Flanders, Ashiteruze baby, Ginga nargareboshi Gin, Kemono Souja Erin, Haibane renmei, Higashi no Eden, Mawari Penguindrum, Planetes, Shiki, Stein gate, Top wo norae and Rorouni Kenshin. Some of these anime series are slice life, so maybe that's why you didn't enjoy them; you found Welcome to the NHK unappealing even though it's probably the best slice of life anime with the blessing of many critics.
There's only been three episodes of Shingeki that have aired thus far, so it's little premature to see what directions it going in. However, I have read some of the source material and it's not as good as I've hoped, especially since the manga is incomplete. It won't be another Sword art online as it's not devolving into a regular hareem anime, but I don't think the series will be a fantasy thriller that is on par with the best of genre, probably above average to pretty good at best.
