Back in august of last year (2011), I was watching T.V. late at night and I randomly flipped the channel to adult swim to see what was on. To my surprise, it was an anime (Durarara!! to be exact). The episode I had flipped to and watched had been a rather exciting episode that convinced that I wanted to watch this series. Ever since than, I've been able to watch anime again.
Code Geass has what could possibly be my favorite OP of all time!!!!!

Hmm...I don't know. I agree that quality has dropped. Now all it takes to make a hit is a good beat and a lot of screaming. But you're right there are the gems out there. I've heard a few songs I actually enjoyed recently like "Roll Away Your Stone". and it's actually country.
I'm just not really in to it anymore...nothing deeper than that :-)
Yea, accents can wait. You just have to learn which sounds are emphasized and which are ignored.
No, I can see where you'd get that from. I mean, they are trapped after all right?
I used to listen to lots of music, All American Rejects included. But now I don't really listen to anything other than Muse. They make the best music videos.
nah, it was just a hobby, they're alright and they only play locally.
Yea, when I was working as a waiter I found I would get higher tips when I did a british accent. I've done a Slavic accent and a french accent as well. But British always got me the highest tips.
Only if that accent makes it hard for people to understand you. Like if it's obvious you were born somewhere else but people can understand you well, then it doesn't matter. But some people misplace words, mispronounce sounds, and speak with too heavy or too light of an emphasis making them difficult to understand; this is when it becomes an issue.
I actually knew a 3 person band here with the two brothers on guitar and the cousin on drums. The cousin eventually left them for another band and they picked up a female drummer who was twice as good. :-)
That's great and all but think of how hard it is to move up the ladder in business other than food service or self-employed...and when I say bad, I mean it's difficult to understand them bad.
Personally I'm pretty adept at mimicking other accents, I'm sure a native could pick me out, but I fool most people I talk to.
Oh I'm sure the story's great, but having underdeveloped characters ruins it for me, so it's good to know they're well done.
Cool, is he in a band, or just by himself?
I know people who have been here for over 20 years and still have a terrible accent, but on the other hand I know people who have only been here for 3 years and sound like a native. I guess everyone is different...
Oh, ok. That sounds good, I guess she isn't bland like I feared.
That was cool of him. Did he used to play?
Well every language has it's quirks that make it easy to learn. For Spanish you have the very scientific conversions of verbs and the use of male/female and plurality in everything. In Japanese you have consistency of vowels and compact syllables almost always ending in a vowel (unless it's 1 letter)...
Of course good ol' English has none of these which is why it is considered the hardest language to learn as an adult.
Yea, but I chose it to be full, life without stress wouldn't be much of a life you know?
Ok, so regarding that girl, anime tends to make the male character seem more awesome by having him save a female character who is supposedly among the best, i.e. Otonashi and Yuri, Natsu and Erza, Takashi and Sayoko, Usui and Misaki...you get the picture; unfortunately this practice is overdone (he saves her like every other episode) which makes the female character, who was supposed to be among the best, not that awesome. Is this the case in Sword Art Online. Don't worry about spoilers, I'm cool as long as you don't give away the entire plot. :-)
Yea, college, work, and general housekeeping, along with other things like my workout schedule, and relaxation time...I guess if I really wanted to make time for anime, I could, but it isn't of particular concern to me at the moment.
btw, how would you describe the main protagonist of Sword Art Online? (not 1 word answers please)
and I know the girls are supposed to be awesome, but are they? If so are they Yuri (Angel Beats!) awesome -excels in many fields- or Misaki (Kaichou wa Maid-sama!) awesome -said to excel in many fields but constantly need help/saving-?
I've heard both extremes, that it's the most amazing show to grace your eyes with it's photons and that it started out amazing but became dull by episode 3. I certainly plan on at least giving it a shot, but I haven't been watching any anime at all lately.
Yea, that makes sense. Immigrants from the East have historically always been sent through Hawaii to LA or San Francisco. And it's a lot closer than the Mainland...
You'll get a mix, and you'll have to live with it, because chances are, he/she is the only one in his/her field that teaches that class...but rest assured, the good ones, are amazing.
Well, you'll never get better until you try. You can start by recording yourself and showing friends and family to get their opinion, and once you think you're good enough you can start updating to youtube...
