By the gods, I watched the first episode of Date A Live. The most hideous thing I watched in years and a sleazy parody on Neon Genesis.
Of course and I will keep watching it, it will give me enough material to curse it in a review.

I like Shinsekai Yori too but A1 Pictures is useless in making gritty or scary anime, so it loses points for that.

It's good to wait till R;N is finished airing. It has a very slow pace for the first half. I started when 12 episodes had already aired. Even though the pace was slow for the first half, I was never bored watching it. The characters are likable and the artstyle is great.
Shinsekai Yori is the best airing anime in my opinion. The atmosphere and story building are excellent in it. Shinsekai Yori takes place 1000 years in the future. Humans discovered a hidden form of telekinesis around present time (early 2000's).
That power, known as Cantus in the anime, is unlocked for every human at birth. Which caused many problems since the time it was discovered. Basically every person has nearly limitless power to kill any other person without lifting a finger.
This anime is about how the future society in Shinsekai Yori deals with the Cantus. Everything about it is fascinating and seems strangely realistic.
Without spoiling anything, the Cantus has very interesting side effects on the rest of the life on the planet.
