MMORPGs are on the way out for me...but then again they never really were "in" aside from FFXI. It was a good three months, but I'm not sure I'd go back. Too many other things to do...

I liked being able to do a bunch of random stuff before having to advance the story onward. Like, even just talking to people, the dialogue was so well translated and localized, or going outside Rabanstre for hunts, chaining wolves, etc. The feeling of exploration, like I had in FFXI, really added a lot to the game. I don't really care how much the game ripped off Star Wars in terms of story, plot, scenery, and basically everything; it still stands as not only a great fantasy adventure of our time but also a sci-fi one.
Ahem, sorry. I could probably go on to specific details, but I'll stop. I hope we can become good friends~

I've played it three times, I think...at least 100 hours each time. The last time I basically did every hunt, except I'm on Yiazmat with about three of his health bars left or something. There's something about the game that is just so engrossing. I love seeing the characters, the vibrant world to explore, the complicated politics in the plot, and of course, the addicting NO RANDOM BATTLES feature.
It's sad that some people can't really open up and appreciate it at all. I think people like the lock themselves in the past with nostalgia, much as I used to be. From a technical standpoint, FFX and FFXII are the best, but stylistically I just prefer FFXII.
Bah, I might start another new game of FFXII, thanks to you. Either that or work on what I have left of FFX to do...getting Lulu and Kimhari's weapons.

I grew up in the SNES era, so Final Fantasy VI will always have that special place in my heart, especially for all the crazy stuff Square did with it that hadn't really been done during its time. I actually recently finished FFX, and I must say I was very impressed. I started the game years ago and never really got anywhere, but went from the beginning earlier this year and followed it through this time.
My "favourite" would go to FFXII, which just blew me away in basically every aspect, but understandable if people didn't really take to the battle system.
