Yeah, I know that as an optimist you can always find a person who is worse than you, but what's the point of it :P ?

As for my job, yes and no. Yes because I've received an offer to work as part-time worker at my uni here in Cracow. Salary is low, but the whole work is easier than breathing. Right now I' in the middle of the second stage of applying for full-time job. I got through tests and now an interview face-to-face with technicians awaits me for a week.

Show off Jesus Christ, I don't control what I write ....I guess my English got dusty for these 2 years.

Well, truth to be told, I got my diploma and other stuff just today xP. "stuck in a rut.", "stuck in a rut." -> Google -> uhm... well I must say that working with computers won't give you much occasions to fell adrenaline rush xD. Good new is that after turning in my thesis I got an offer to take care of that website working as part-time worker. Money which I receive for it is rather poor ~ 700 zł (1 USD ~ 3.5 zł ), but on the bright side I have health insurance & season ticket (pass) to health facilities with no limit on it :3.

How am I doing ? To answer this ultra complex question, I'll use my standard answer : so-so :3. Right now, I'm tuning my master thesis for APD (which literally translates as Archive of Thesis Diploma ). And after this I'm going to finish website to it, so no anime in close future :O.

As for danbooru, yea I try show up there with my awesome uploads every now and then xD.

Sure ask me anything, but I'm not much of an artist. I just draw when I have spare time or when inspiration and motivation comes to me.

I too had my slumps and it took me 2 years to pick up a pencil again and start drawing. Just draw for fun, don't force yourself. If you feel frustrated then it ain't fun anymore.

Fui | 09-20-11, 11:15 AM
Starting off drawing from imagination can be a vicious cycle because when you draw something it might not be that great due to lack of knowledge causing you feel frustrated and less willing to draw again. That's why I think it's better to get solid knowledge so that next time you draw, you will feel improvement and it will just feel better. I like to watch a stream or play a video on the side (or even in the bg to hear the audio) while I do studies.

A lot of people will probably tell you to "draw from life," but I'm not sure if that necessarily makes you better at drawing from imagination. I haven't drawn from life in a while, and I think my ability to draw from imagination has improved a lot since then. I also noticed a friend who just stayed home rather than take classes improved even more quickly than me who was taking art classes. But I think it's good to experiment in it anyway...it may have been very useful to me...it's hard to say, since I did do a good amount early on.

At home I just use printer paper since I go through quite a bit (500 sheet blocks of it like at Office Depot/Staples). And pencils...honestly the super cheap No.2 pencils are fine (a dozen for 99c). Otherwise I like B or 2B. Also my godlike Panasonic auto-stop automatic pencil sharpener. That thing is incredible (they don't sell the one I use new anymore).

I use sketchbooks when I go out. They're relatively much more expensive (I buy cheap but nice ones at barnes&noble since they're the best deal I've found...they have hardcover ring 8.5x11 sketchbooks for $7. If you really don't care about sketchbook quality they have less expensive paperback ones (like Strathmore). The cheaper alternative which I sometimes do is a clipboard + printer paper, which works fine too (especially if you bring a folio to keep your paper from getting messed up). Then I use more expensive pencils + a manual pencil sharpener since some cheap pencil lead breaks quite easily on manual pencil sharpeners. Although mechanical pencils are more convenient, I would avoid them personally.

I do studies on a lot of anime/animator stuff TBH...you can learn from anyone who has actual skill/knowledge/experience.

Yes, I can look at your drawings if you'd like.

LOL, I hardly log on too.
It's usually just to send PMs to people because MAL is more or less the only way I'm keeping contact with them, or when I'm just really bored, I just randomly look at clubs and read stuff.

Hey, same here. I can't say I'm the most productive guy out there but I think about drawing a good amount.

I think it's just a matter of really getting into. Actually most of my time is spent doing studies/looking at things that I think will be useful for me, just because I feel it's the best investment of time for getting better. It requires less brainpower (easier) IMO than just drawing from imagination, too, as counter-intuitive as it sounds. Maybe in the beginning it might make your brain tired, but then you get used to it and it's easy to autopilot. Of course, your time will be wasted if you're not actively learning something (like mindlessly copying =/= learning). Ultimately a lot of things you learn will keep overlapping/reinforcing itself (like how an arm looks in this position etc) and eventually it will be second nature for you to be able to draw/handle it. Then I'll "test" myself and draw for fun from imagination for a bloc of time. This helps to see things I'm weak at so I can go back to doing studies of those things. Well that's sort of my routine in a nutshell.

What kind of/whose art do you like and what are you going for?

Unless you get married or you have so much kids that it's scary to think how do you manage to earn living for yourself and them. don't mentioning your harem :P.

@blue waffle ; O rly xP ?

Well it depends for who :P. For 90 USD you can buy here quite decent internal or MP4 player like mine (~ 4GB, 16 mln of colours, 4-inch screed). I always wonder what companies on the west(by wast I mean all western Europe and the Northern America )t think that we earn here -_-. Maybe it's cheap when you earn 10$ per hour, but not 2-3$ :/.The whole year costs here about 2700 zł / 3 (3 zł ~ 1 USD) = 900$, but this is price only for my department. Legal studies and economic costs about 1200$ per year. FYI an average salary(I assume that you don't work as a teacher and have a degree) here is something between 2-3,5 k zł /3 ~ 660- 1200 $. Not much. As for me, I study in Cracow at Jagiellonian University : Applied Computer Science(don't ask how do we apply it xD) :).

I mean the first result on the list.

Maybe not a few k, but like 270 zł ~ 90 USD for one. You can buy many fancy hentai things for so much cash ><.

Nothing much, just got back from celebrating Zombie Jesus Day. I'm in the same boat if not worse so don't feel too bad about your assignments. Are you doing anything to enjoy yourself?
